The spacecraft: SMART-1, a lunar orbiter belonging to the European Space Agency (ESA). The impact site: Lacus Excellentiae (The Lake of Excellence), an ancient, 100-mile wide crater in the Moon's southern hemisphere. (3 yr old twin boys do have a way of tiring one out! LOL) Anyway, I found a report that gives a glimpse of what it looked like-- "You can view a CFHT animation of the Moon images it recorded – the impact appears in one frame."
