We just got two new goats...

5 posts in this topic

One is an adoptive mother to an 8 week old kid. One of our old goats, Black Jack keeps rearing up on his back legs and butting at the female and the baby. We think he just wants to mate, but we're not taking chances, and we're keeping the mother and baby apart from Black Jack. They're pygmy goats, and Black Jack is fixed, if that helps any. Anyone know why he keeps doing this? Will he kill the baby if given the chance? Thanks.

May be like other animals they have to get to know each other maybe he's just showing them who's boss around there. Try introducing them to each other a few times a day make sure you and some one else stay with them just in case he gets to rammy. Good luck hope it works out for you.
