The Man in the Iron Mask dies in the Bastille. He was a prisoner of Louis XIV, forced to wear a black velvet mask, and his identity has never been revealed.

Here is a link to the true history and legend of the Man in the Iron Mask:

Man In The Iron Mask

Does anyone think he was really

the identical twin brother of King Louis XIV?

When I first saw the movie "The Man in the Iron Mask" I though, "What a spectacular story of who the man behind the mask is!". I found the theory interesting, but mostly just entertaining. There are just too many theories to be certain which one is correct. This is just another mystery that we may or may not ever know the truth to. original.gif

I might sound like a total tart, but I think the idea behind it is kind of romantic.
