Legatus Legionis Posted June 17, 2007 #2 Share Posted June 17, 2007 it's good that after several years they finally discovered the silks DNA recipe. i hope they could find ways to inject it into a goats DNA giving it's milk the same property. There was a study done on spider's silks a few years ago. The scientists stated that if they could replicate it, a rope the width of a pencil could stop an airplane in midair it would be so strong. Could you imagine the possibilities?
Celumnaz Posted June 18, 2007 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2007 (edited) http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/889951.stm (from 2000) from what I can see it's been in full production for a while already no? http://www.google.com/search?q=spider+goat...tf8&oe=utf8 Maybe not the black widow portion is what they mean, since they've been using orb weavers genes in the goats? Pretty sure it's been a done deal at least 5 years (never heard about the successful testing that must've been going on in the 90's) right?
