actually, zombie-_-, a crystal-clear image is far more likely to be fake than a blurry one. the person taking the picture is usually way too shaken up to take a good picture, and just snaps a quick shot and runs.
Comment icon #35 Posted by zombie-_- on 21 July, 2010, 3:45
why is it with all the photos of cryptids, the photos are ALL BLURRY!!???? so annoying. yet another clue to tell you its fake

That is NOT the mokele m'bembe. It is the incanyamba. According to the first [and much, much more serious and respectable] season of Animal Planet's Animal X, the photo was taken by two tourists to the falls located at the end of the Umgeni River in the Kazulu-Natal province of South Africa. The falls themselves have been absolutely dreaded by the locals, whose insistance that a water monster worthy of regular sacrifices lives in the deep waters at the base of the water fall goes back centuries. As for the mokele m'bembe, they are elephant-sized saurapods that until a few decades ...

There's a report of a tribe killing one because it went on a rampage and hurt people. They started to eat it, but stopped because they said the taste was awful. I think this story came from the expedition in 1970 as well
Comment icon #30 Posted by beastiej on 25 February, 2006, 6:57
this may not be a real photo...but i believe the mokele mbembe is a very real creature. An expedition went into the Congo in the 1970's. They took with them pictures of common animals like bears and horses. But they also took drawings of a Brontosauras. The local tribes of course didn't know what the bears were, but the immediately identified the dinosaur as a "mokele mbembe"

It doesn't look like a damn thing to me. This could be anything. I'm surprised this photo is even posted, it's so horrid.

To me, it looks like a painting, but hey....Ya never know..I have seen paintings of flowers that look like photographs, whose to say there are no photographs that look like paintings?
Comment icon #26 Posted by foxgirl on 20 October, 2005, 6:19
Have any of you seen the old silent movie The Lost World? I loved that movie. first silent one i saw. I read that some people attacked the dinosaur with spears and wounded it.
Comment icon #25 Posted by after_life_solja on 7 September, 2005, 18:39

hmmm if it was a snake then why is its neck so thin (right at the part where the head and the neck are connected [if you can say honestly that they even look connected] it looks like a rock in the shape of a snake head stuck on to a big rock that sticks up and thats all there is to it [at least that's what I think])
Comment icon #20 Posted by ilovevivalabam on 26 April, 2005, 8:11
it looks like a snake
Comment icon #19 Posted by blackpanther on 18 March, 2005, 12:40
I think its real. And the one dude up there was right. The back markings dont look like a cobras markings.
Comment icon #18 Posted by neverheardofit on 21 February, 2005, 5:10
I think it looks a lot like a painting or screen shot from a stop motion movie OR a very old photo. I would like it to be real. Those haunted falls sound right creepy.:)
Comment icon #17 Posted by panzeroberst on 30 January, 2005, 23:17
Yup, looks more like a painting than a photo.
Comment icon #16 Posted by mr dollarhyde on 2 January, 2005, 23:52
I Have had a look at a good copy of this photo the one on here is very blurry and it shows a lot of detail. The waterfall is called haunted waterfall in south america just as thingy hunter said there has been about 20 suicides from the falls its got a rep as a well creepy place also the falls are said to have submerged caves behind them. I think this is a real photo........

Look close at this "photo"...like Fetch said, it's a painting!!!
Comment icon #14 Posted by captainzaggis on 4 December, 2004, 2:45
oh yeah!!! i remember that movie!! It does remind me of that..it couldnt be a snake though because Snakes never swim or slither upright but they can stand upright.
Comment icon #13 Posted by elementm7 on 2 December, 2004, 3:38
I think it exists too, but I'm not positive that the picture is real...could be wrong
Comment icon #12 Posted by crypto-buddy on 21 November, 2004, 8:27

Comment icon #3 Posted by fetch farley on 10 September, 2004, 4:41
mr_halo, You're probably right (I've never seen the film), but it appears obvious to me that this is a painting, NOT a photograph (or a photograph of a painting).
Comment icon #2 Posted by mr_halo on 31 July, 2004, 2:26
i'm sure its a still from the movie "Loch Ness", i recognised it right away, the film had ted danson in it, its where he sees the monster in the cave, i'm sure of it..
Comment icon #1 Posted by thingy hunter on 27 July, 2004, 20:24
If I am right this photo is not actually Mokole Mbembe. its the "monster" that is supposed to lurk at the foot of this "haunted" waterfall somewhere is Siuth America. I recall seeing TV prog on it and the footage of the falls gave me chills. A real freaky looking place even without a monster!
