In Alpine folklore, the Tatzelwurm is a stubby, lizard-like creature. It takes the appearance of a cat with the hind-end of a serpent with no hind legs. It is rumored to live in several areas of Europe, including the Austrian, Bavarian, Italian and Swiss Alps. It has several regional names including Stollenwurm, Springwurm, Arassas and Praatzelwurm. In 1934 a Swiss photographer named Balkin allegedly saw a strange creature near a log and photographed it. The resulting interest in the creature inspired the Berliner Illustrierte to sponsor an expedition in search of the Tatzelwurm, but the exped...

That'd be pretty kick ass if it were anywhere close to real.

That is a dinosaur put on the front of a snake. Both skeletons, all fake.

you all do realize the flash of the camera could have possibly been part of the reason the bones were so white, right? and it might not be spray paint under the bones, but it looks like dust. but I do agree with Nova about the shoulderblades and the arms looking too heavy for the body.

Anyone else notice that around the 'bones' the wood is white and powdery? I dont think that bones are just going to powder the box.

noe_valentine, you took the words right out of my mouth. you'd think they'd have at least moved it somewhere else before taking pictures...

It's fake, but I'd love to have one in my room!
Comment icon #14 Posted by noe_valentine on 8 February, 2005, 12:09
it is obvious that it was spray painted right where it is lying!
Comment icon #13 Posted by kiwi17 on 8 January, 2005, 14:34
It's definitely fake but it looks like someone put a lot of effort into making it.

I used to have this sorta of kiddy book about monsters and serpents and stuff like that I think it had a story about the tatzel worm in it. but I think my mum threw it away a while back :(

I saw this picture somewhere else. They said that it looked like a plastic figurine. I'd have to agree. The bones look too white, even if they are bleached. The arms look like something from a toy dinosaur skeleton I had when I was a kid.

looks fake but cool none the less.

It could be real but looks fabricated.

Reminds me of the Colo Clawfish from Star Wars. With arms.

I don't care if it's fake or not... This would look great on my living room coffee table.

A snake spine and rib cage, looks like some kind of fish skull and small reptile arms. None of hich appear to go together!

Trophy skeletons are usually bleached. That would be one mother of a trophy. Those arms are attached like the limbs of a cuppersnake, a legless lizard with rudimentary internal limbs. They wouldn't be very strong, but they could work.

the bones are too white...unless these are castings, not the original bones...
Comment icon #2 Posted by nova on 31 July, 2004, 23:29
Looks fake to me - it doesn't seem to have any shoulderblades? The arms seem too heavy for the body, there is nothing to hold them up or for the muscles to attach to, in order to use them.

i think it's "tatzlewurm" as all one word
