Well I'm not sure if its a fake or not but for all the Nay sayer is a bit of overlookind in on dinasures and this one it seems to be fossil evedence had beed found to show show that some did have waht apeared to be fur or a fury down symlar to the pic. I Wish i could give a refece to the matiral but after 27 years of being a dinisure fan you tend to forget every book you've read 8)the fur too could accly be more of a down too (sorry i know i'm spelling it wrong) it's a cool image one way or another

By the way, fur is often imprinted in fossils, although it doesn't properly fossilise. Pterosaurs may have had a soft fur coat. If this IS real, it is probably Pterodactylus antiquus, an Early Cretaceous pterosaur. Also, it may interest you to know that earlier in 20th Century, German mine workers reportedly cracked open a slab of rock and a pterosaur flew out of it. Toads can almost certainly preserve themselves in a rock for ages, so why shouldn't a pterosaur be able to? It's probably a fake, though.

Yeah, Finbar seems to be a bit of a technical whizz when it comes to photoshop. Well, he's better at it than I'll ever be!

It's a hoax, the guy who edited the picture is a member of cryptozoology.com... it is really cute though, isn't it?

It looks like a bat, a wren, and a hummingbird. I want one!!! (I want a lot of things) :)

This is fake, but it's bloody good. Bat and bits of other creatures put together... But, i'm unsure what. What gives it away is the fur. Reptiles DO NOT have fur like the little bat half of the creature does. :P Still, this is so cute... wicked stuff.

Neck looks really thick for a pterosaur. It's cute but probably fake.
Comment icon #5 Posted by mgblueyes on 29 August, 2005, 14:41
granted bb. are the skeletons of pterosaurs hollow unlike the other reptiles from the era. seem to remember a doco about airbore reptiles weighing approx 9 pounds(full gtrown) which is a trend in current birds or has this continued in some of todays reptile? no familiar with subject (obviously)

This is obviously fake and a bat body. I hope the colored pencil embryonic image is not supposed to be real. And Pterosaurs were not birds, or "birdies" as you call them, they were reptiles and are now extinct.

that cute little birdie has millions of years of evolution holding him firmly in his place. where is our strength, mere infants, how will we stand against time.

If it is fake it is a good fake; but if Nessie is proven to be real then it will have survived the Jurassic period. Then all things are possible. Look at the Coelocanth that was found in the waters of Africa thought to have been exinct. Some species could have survived and evolved like the Coelocanth.
