unicorns are actually real, though it usually occurs on goats or other naturally horned animals. the horn is the result of a genetic deformity

The skull appears to be that of a horse, but the bone to which the horn is protruding from is clearly not attached to the skull. It looks like it was placed onto the back of the skull, balancing on another bone.
