Looks like he's sucking on a petrol pump! Maybe he needs a special type of oxygen mix??? The nazi's were totally into ufo's & designed one themselves...maybe this little guy was their design partner .

The soldiers look like gestapo and my guess it is a little person being led like a dog. It is obvious they are laughing AT him not WITH him. But something is out of place in the picture. I am wondering why the soldiers had so short legs and even shorter pants?The original was probably tampered with as the legs are shorter than the torsos, so I think it was doctored somehow and the picture streched sideways.....

As Patrick Gross pointed out on ufologie.net, this was an April Fool's prank by a German paper: "German researcher Klaus Webner did prove that this photograph has been presented as an April 1st joke in the German newspaper "Wiesbadener Tagesblatt" (Wiesbaden Daily Newspaper) in 1950, by editor William Sprunkel, using a painted photograph from Hans Scheffler. This photo was taken when the laws of alcohol in public was set in action, you can see pretty clear that he consumes the (alien beer?) from a tube hiding the bottle...pretty smart though

Well it looks to me not like breathing aparatus it looks like a rope or something and i dont think that if that were a REAL alien those men would be so comfortable . Look at the body language... that definatley used to be someone they knew in the picture its obviously been altered.

grant69, it is not a drawing!! Those soldiers are looking squarely at it; not down at the ground, ahead of them, around them, but right on the nose at it! I am an Artist; the lighting, shadow and folds in the material show that this 'thing' is NOT a drawing! and zooming in, that is definitely some sort of breathing aparatus that it is using.

The alien is a drawing. You can see it isn't as clear as the soldiers. Photoshop couldn't have been used as it wasn't around when this photo came out, I've seen it in some books from the eighties.

I'm open-minded too, sandy_siv; but what intrigues me is why it has to have some sort of breathing tube aparatus, if it's not real? and the clothes? could it be that they had to find him something in a hurry, and nothing fit?

looks like an alien, but it also looks like it was sketched on the photo with a pencil.....i've seen this pic so many times on different sites, and i keep coming to the same conclusion "the drawing stinks!" and plus, obviously, the alien's clothing isn't as "shadowed" as everyone else is, 'specially those fashional pants!
