It could simply be something on the lens,oil or otherwise refracting the light, especially considering you used a flash (it appears so by the pic)

No flash was used... the outside lights were on just above and behind us.

Looking at this, it's very easy to tell that a flash was used. You even titled the pic "Dancing in the dark." You may not have noticed the flash, with your eyes closed. Your orb is dust. Orbs are never orbs.
