I think it's some sort of device for determining levels and gradients in passage ways within tombs and pyramids. The vessel people mistake for a light bulb is in fact a vessel that contains a liquid "hence the wavy line". The "device" at the end looks like some sort of windlass. The hole you point out is probably were the wooden shaft was placed to turn the thing. The vessel would have had a known quantity of water/liquid in it. When the desired angle was found by raising or lowering the windlass the water would trickle out!

It's a Djedd pillar. Or a pendant made in the image of a Djedd pillar.
