South Georgia, South Atlantic Ocean
Image credit: Jeff Schmaltz MODIS Land Rapid Response Team, NASA GSFC

Uploader comment: Clouds swirled across the South Atlantic Ocean on a sunny autumn afternoon in 2012, and parted over South Georgia Island just enough to allow a clear view of the islandís icy, rugged landscape. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard NASAís Aqua satellite captured this true-color image on April 26 at 17:15 UTC (3:15 pm South Georgia Time).
