The eccentric singer is set to become the first ever pop star to sing a song live from outer space.
Chris Hadfield serenaded his YouTube viewers with a rendition of David Bowie's "Space Oddity" from the International Space Station earlier this year, but now he's about to be upstaged by none other than Lady Gaga in a world first space-based performance.

The 'Born This Way' singer is set to sing one of her songs while flying aboard one of Virgin Galactic's fledgling vessels as part of the Zero G Colony music festival in 2015. The three day event will take place at Spaceport America and will feature a plethora of popular artists.
According to sources, Gaga will need to undergo a month of vocal training in preparation for the attempt and has also taken out a "ridiculous" life insurance policy in case anything goes wrong.

The spectacle is being billed as "like nothing the world has seen before."

If I were given the chance to sing in space, I would, but I do not have the money lady Gaga has, so I guess I will just stick to singing in the shower instead.

While I have nothing personal against Lady Gaga, it has been noted that others (Chris Hadfield for one) have already 'sung in space' - in the sense of a recognised artistic performance. Yes, it amazing that people can now 'sing in space' but the press release from Lady Gaga's publicity team is - much like Ms Brightman's - simply a publicity stunt. It does not "break new ground" as art or performance. That, I think, is what people are objecting to - that this isn't art or "progress" but simply a bowing to sensationalism for the sake of commercial success. I have nothing against her either. It w... It would be more impressive if she performed "outside" in a space suit. That is not possible on a sub-orbital flight. just think of all the money that will be spent and gained from this. The money could go to a better purpose. You could levy that argument against any performance, any art. Every song paid for and downloaded, every painting, every statue all the money spent could be spent on medical research or helping the poor. We are all guilty and all hypocrites when it comes to spending money that could be put to better use. Art has it's place in society. Besides I see the hand of Richard Br... [More]

Looks like the United States of America will now be torturing people from space as well as the earth.

That is not possible on a sub-orbital flight. Outer space and sub-orbital are two very different things,... If you grew up with Star Trek.

Outer space and sub-orbital are two very different things,... If you grew up with Star Trek. Tell Alan Shepherd and Gus Grissom that as they made their sub-orbital flights into outer space five years before the first episode of Star Trek was even filmed. Outer space and sub-orbital are only two different things to those that don't understand the definition of either outer space OR sub-orbital.
