NASA has announced that the long-awaited reversal of the sun's magnetic poles has finally taken place.
The reversal, which takes place every 11 years, is part of the sun's natural cycle and is not believed to pose any risk to the Earth. The magnetic fields will now begin their next cycle which will culminate in another reversal at the end of the 22 year long process.
"A reversal of the sun's magnetic field is, literally, a big event," said Dr. Tony Phillips. "The domain of the sun's magnetic influence (also known as the 'heliosphere') extends billions of kilometers beyond Pluto. Changes to the field's polarity ripple all the way out to the Voyager probes, on the doorstep of interstellar space."
Is there an English word for, "once every eleven years," like maybe "eleventyannual?" Undecennial https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anniversary#Latin-derived_numerical_names
I saw people talking about this and claiming it was a very epic event, but they failed to mention the every 11 years part. This has happened 4 times since I was born. Hoo hum..... Interesting, but understood.
Interesting, but understood. "Understood" is overstating it a bit. We know that it does it. We know how frequently it does it. We don't really know why it does it.

Could this effect the weather? Maybe the reason why we have had storm after storm in the UK over a week or more. dunno... but i noticed a big change in the weather around then too. I was sort of thinking the solstice might have had something to do with it in some UNunderstood way ??? but i wonder if you might be right about it possibly affecting weather. ...There have been some major solar flares lately too ... ?¿?
