'Dead' Mississippi man wakes up in a body bag

Funeral home staff were shocked when 78-year-old Walter Williams suddenly started moving around.
Williams had been declared dead by a coroner on Wednesday night before being taken to the Porter and Sons funeral home. Things soon took a turn for the unexpected however when undertakers who had been preparing to embalm his remains discovered him struggling and squirming around inside the body bag, seemingly very much alive.

"I asked the coroner what happened and the only thing he could say is that it's a miracle," said Sheriff Willie March.
It was later determined that Williams' pacemaker had temporarily stopped working, making it seem as though he had died, before later starting back up again on its own while he was at the funeral home.

The 78-year-old is now recovering in hospital and has told his family that he is glad to be alive.

UPDATE Walter Williams, the Mississippi man who returned to life after being pronounced dead about two weeks ago, died Thursday. He was 78. "They came and got him again around 4:15 a.m.," Williams' nephew, Eddie Hester, told CNN affiliate WAPT. "I think he's gone this time." CNN learned about the death from Holmes County, Mississippi, coroner Dexter Howard. He was the same man who first declared Williams dead on February 26. "There was no pulse. He was lifeless," the coroner said then. Link to full article : http://www.cnn.com/2014/03/13/us/mississippi-walter-williams-dead/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Boy, they better check REALLY WELL this time. I would not want to wake up in a body bag twice.

What is the obsession with Zombies? It seems like the big thing since Pet Rocks back in the 70's. Haha, Pet Rocks. Man, whoever thought of selling rocks to the gullible was a marketing genius.

Haha, Pet Rocks. Man, whoever thought of selling rocks to the gullible was a marketing genius. Yep, and the same applies with Zombies. Somebody's laughing walking to the bank.

Poor man. That must have been an awful way to wake up. It's a good thing he woke up when he did though lol

I am surprised there was no autopsy before embalming. Lucky him though, imagine waking up right as they were making their incision.
