What sound did a Tyrannosaurus rex make ?

Unlike in movies such as Jurassic Park, large therapod dinosaurs would not have been able to roar.
The stereotypical concept of a Tyrannosaurus rex sees this behemoth of the prehistoric world roaring like a lion as it rampages through the jungle after its prey, but recent studies in to the vocalizations of dinosaurs have revealed that these animals may have sounded a lot different to what we would expect.

Producers of the Jurassic Park movies used a combination of elephant and dog sounds to create the trademark roar of the Tyrannosaurus rex, vocalizations that the real thing would have been unable to produce. With no larynx or syrinx in fact most dinosaurs may have only been able to produce a very limited range of sounds that would have been quite unlike those used in the movie.
In reality Tyrannosaurus rex is more likely to have made hissing, rattling or booming noises like a snake or crocodile while a lot of the communication between other dinosaur species would have relied on visual cues such as colorful crests, frills or horns.

Some species of dinosaur may have not even made any sounds whatsoever.

You mean something like this?? It was meant to be a play on What does the fox say.

I'd think the T-Rex made sounds similar to a crocodile. Low grunts and stuff. I don't think they ran around roaring all the time though like most shows portray. Wouldn't make sense; especially when hunting. I mean, what animal is gonna go hunting then when it has its prey in sight, starts roaring or making all sorts of racket?

Not convinced by the crocodile sound theory, I think it sounded like a cute, fluffy little kitten, purring and rolling over so it could (attempt) to tickle its own belly with its uber cute little arms.

This is all guess work and opinions! The reality of it is we will never no for sure what noises they were capable of! If parrots had died out with the dinosaur's, do you think modern day scientists would know the full range of their vocal abilities going by a 90 million year old fossil????????

T-Rex was a fraud, those tiny little arms give away his true character. I bet it had a little squeek or something..LOL

I don't know about the rest of you but a Stealthosaurus Rex is most frightening not making any sound whatsoever. Imagine being out in the wild and hear a twig snap behind you just in time to see a jaw full of teeth engulf you in darkness. Then he says "Boom"....
