Richard Bootman got the shock of his life when he opened his packet of Steak and Onion potato chips.
The 25-year-old architectural designer from Mildenhall, Suffolk had been to his local supermarket and was looking forward to tucking in to the snack when he disappointedly discovered that the entire contents of the bag had been replaced by a single potato.
"I didn't notice the packet was any different," he recalled. "It was in a multipack and I was working at the time so I just grabbed the bag to open while working. When I opened it and realised, it was just disbelief. We were laughing, and the whole office was the same."

After posting a photograph of his discovery on social media however Bootman's story ended up going viral and even made headlines as far away as Russia where it was featured on the news.

"The fact that it has hit off in so many places amazes me because I only posted it on Facebook to friends as I found it so unbelievable," he said.

. I've always wondered how they could price their items so low. In the UK anyway, Aldi, Lidl, and Netto, are budget supermarkets, and can save you a fortune. Name brand supermarkets tend to sell....name brands. Heinz. Hellmans, Kellogs, Silver Soon etc So, you can get pretty much everything you want at the budget places, but it may be another brand, however, they often sell brand names too for short runs, again theyre cheaper. Sometimes you may not be able to get 'everything' you want at these places,,, (spices spring to mind)...but for the staples, theyre great Having said that meat isnt real... [More]

I will plan a trip to see how the one here is. It's about 20-25 minutes away from me so I would have to make the extra trip. My regular grocery is just up the street like 2 minutes away. But hey, it might be worth it in the long run! Thanks for that info

My nearest is also about 15 mins drive away, but I'll spend at least 50% less on a weekly shop. Plus they tend to have an aisle of clothes/shoes/tools, allsorts really...and they tend to change it every-week https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/sun-29-mar/ https://www.aldi.co.uk/en/specialbuys/mon-30-... I'm buying crisps in bulk in hopes I too can find a whole spud.. Now look here Americano's.. If your going to speak the queens English, it's "Crisps" ok? But I don't speak the Queen's English, I say color, not colour. And I don't call a cigarette a ******. I have been known to use the occasional "Bloody Hell!!", but that is because my Dad is full Welsh. And I'm not sure the Welsh speak the Queen's English either... I also use a bit of German, French and Spanish in many day to day situations. American English is like Americans, all stirred up from different sources.

We just had an ALDI food store open in this area and I've been wary of shopping there. All the advert's boast the LOW LOW prices...like WAY below any other grocery chain around here. I've always wondered how they could price their items so low. I guess this is why Too funny. Thanks for that Still Waters!! The fact that they don't have baggers and cart runners or take credit cards helps too.

That bag of chips was probably prepared by someone having fun on the factory or the guy who bought it.. But sometimes there can be animals and insects in packages. I once found a bumblebee in a bottle of beer (the bottle was unopened).
