Bizarre 'life form' caught on camera in Taiwan

What the heck is this thing ? Image Credit: YouTube / Huang Meilan
A strange 'creature' made up of a tangle of black vines has been filmed thrashing around on the ground.
The organism, which was recorded by Huang Meilan in Hsinchu, Taiwan, appears to consist of a mass of black vine-like appendages that are able to move independently of one another.

In the video these can be seen undulating and wriggling around in a highly disconcerting manner.

"I found this on the ground and it caught my eye," said Huang. "It was so strange and people said different things about it. But I wanted to know what it actually was."

One possible explanation is that the 'creature' is actually a tangled up mass of horsehair worms.

Some Internet users have even taken to describing it as an "alien life form".

Definitely horse hair worms. Probably mating as stated before. Can't some worms get some privacy?

They are apparently parasites. Also, as another poster showed, DO YOU WANT TO BECOME VENOM!? Haha!

I'm going to agree with you Paranormaly... The bent bits look dried out, and not like an actively mating worm. Worm trapped in some kind of netting.

Adult horsehair worms shouldn't be outside of water. At least no species I'm aware of. It looks like a mating ball somehow got stuck on shore. In most species the females are much larger than the males. It looks the males died and dried out but there's a larger female or two still alive in there. Just a guess.

To me just a normal animal or insect tangled up in many many things, probably human litter
