A Venezuelan man who had been declared dead woke up in the morgue in excruciating pain after medical examiners began their autopsy. Carlos Camejo, 33, was declared dead after a highway accident and taken to the morgue, where examiners began an autopsy only to realize something was amiss when he started bleeding.

I think I heard the same story, Harriet. The reason they dug up the coffin was because they heard noises coming from it; and the dead don't make noises (unless of course, your a vampire )

Isn't that where the phrase "Dead Ringer" came from? The story I heard was that a string was tied to the toe and ran up through the ground and attached to a small bell hanging above the grave. They had people sitting in the cemetaries all night just to listen for ringing... they worked the "Graveyard Shift".

Well, if this doesn't give someone the heebie jeebies about "dying", I don't know what does. *shivers* Imagine if the knot wasn't tied very well and the string came off your toe, you couldn't very well bend down there inside the coffin to pick it up and start ringing, could you? Great, now I'm gonna have nightmares....

Wouldn't they have tested for brain activity? If his pulse was strong enough for him to bleed wouldn't it have been detectable???
