Christmas trees show up with live 'ornaments'

Colored balls and tinsel might be regular adornments for Christmas trees this festive season but residents in Anchorage are being asked to keep an eye out for live frogs that have been turning up in trees sold in the area.

Forget the plastic icicles, brightly colored balls and tinsel. Some Christmas trees for sale in the Anchorage area are adorned with something truly different this holiday season — live Pacific Chorus frogs.

just my two cents... aren't those trees kept outside prior to purchase????? and isn't sub-zero temp the norm in Anchorage this time of year????

I know it's sick and disgusting now but as a kid it was a blast. Competing to see who's would go the farthest. The memories ....

Ah Christmas trees… celebrating the season of giving by taking the life of a tree only to throw it away when the season is done – and now destroying the home of some critter for it too. Merry Christmas!
