British troops in Afghanistan may soon be issued with blast-proof underpants to prevent unfortunate injuries.

Remember that would-be suicide bomber who carried a bomb inside his undies while on a plane? I wonder if the blast would be contained internally in a case like that...

I hope my government will give them to our boys, too.

I would be the first in line to wear those. I rather do everything to keep my, uhh, twig and berries intact.

I can't imagine the fetishes that will become a result of these underpants.

No one will wear them. I dont know a single person that wears regular underwear/boxers in Afghanistan let alone trying to get someone to wear armor around their crotch. Perhaps when it's colder out, but not in the summer.

I've thought of an idea for a portable refrigeration device that would be solar powered and use a non toxic liquid that would circulate around a soldiers clothing through plasic tubes, think about that plus blast proof boxers. Comfortable and such. I doubt my idea would work though.
