A series of green fireball sightings in Australia 4 years ago could have been a case of ball lightning.
While the possibility exists that the objects were meteors or space debris physicist Stephen Hughes of Queensland University believes they could have been ball lightning - mysterious glowing spheres sometimes sighted during thunderstorms.
"Green fireballs that streaked across the sky and rolled down an Australian mountainside four years ago, spurring reports of UFOs in the area, might have been meteors and ball lightning, a researcher suggests."
