Have you ever got up to do something, entered a room and forgotten what it was you were doing ?
According to scientists, this is not only common but a result of something called the "location-updating effect". When you walk in to a new room your brain will essentially refresh in order to take in your new location and surroundings, making you more likely to forget what it was you were doing when you came in.
Called "location-updating effect," the phenomenon also causes people transitioning between rooms (even virtual ones) to take more time while attempting to recall items from memory.
