Blisteringly hot alien planet found

A planet so hot that iron would melt on its surface has been discovered orbiting a distant star.
Kepler-21b is only slightly larger than the Earth but orbits so close to its parent star that the temperature on its surface is a sweltering 2,960 degrees Fahrenheit with an orbit of just 2.8 Earth days. The planet is 352 light years away and was discovered by NASA's Kepler space telescope.
Astronomers have found an alien planet not much bigger than Earth, but so blisteringly hot that life has no shot of gaining a foothold there.

Well if we ever make it past ourselfs,we just may someday get to "Gliese 581g" then we could have a chance to see just how easy life can grow in the soup of the Universe.JMO.justDONTEATUS

It shows how misleading the News can be. This (I think it's the same one) was described on the News as "Earth-like". I wouldn't say that exactly.

Oh no, that's a different one. This one is 21B, apparently, but the new one is 22B. Time to update the thread, I think!

Oh no, that's a different one. This one is 21B, apparently, but the new one is 22B. Time to update the thread, I think! I think it is Kepler 22B? The one that is supposed to be like California type climate?

Astronomers have confirmed the existence of an Earth-like planet in the "habitable zone" around a star not unlike our own.The planet, Kepler 22-b, lies about 600 light-years away and is about 2.4 times the size of Earth, and has a temperature of about 22C. BBC News

New headline for the Fundamentalist Fanatical News: Hell found by atheist scientist! When asked, the atheist scientist replied "no comment."
