Several witnesses observed up to five objects over the country's Rotorua and Bay of Plenty regions.

Parts of New Zealand have become a hotbed for sightings in recent weeks. In an incident that occurred at the end of October, four people reported witnessing five glowing orbs moving across a road and out of sight behind some trees. "They were all perfectly round with a larger orange-coloured orb leading about four smaller orbs all in a line about the same distance apart," said a petrol station employee. "They were moving on an angle before they disappeared behind some trees."

In another incident, a Lake Tarawera resident claimed that he'd photographed a bright orange orb moving slowly across the lake. "We saw it heading from roughly a southern position heading north low in the sky," he said. "It appeared to be a rotating ball with varying colours. It was not along any flight paths that I see airplanes on either."

"During a number of separate sightings this month a rural Rotorua resident filmed what he described as a "blinking ufo object and big bright sphere object" as well as a "bright light ufo, strange skies ufo and fireballs"."

The probes idea is feasible. I've read about this somewhere. We could send out probes with a programmed agenda...to explore and send back data. Their first priority is to search for planets where they can replicate themselves, and their numbers grow exponentially over time. It's a "techie" version of

Not at all on my behalf. Yes indeed, considering our forays into extrasolar planets, and the magnificent success we are experiencing in it's infancy, I do not understand why the planets lighting, radio signals, orbital debris and probes from activities by NASA and the ESA would not indicate such powerfully. Yes you have a point, but is curious enough to hide here for 60+ years one wonders what the draw card is if not intelligence. I really doubt rocky earth like planets are incredibly rare seeming as we have found some ourselves. No. Instead of thinking of Star Treks Prime d... [More]

Neither have I. But I don't know why they can't just leave crop circles like they do in the UK.

interesting altough on news years night bang on 12.00 then again 1.37 myself and kids had seen 10 orange orbs in the sky 3 coming from west 4 coming from south and 3 coming from north east of my house...they may not have been the actual thing we seen but it has to account for something and they sure were not fireworks...

It's likely they were Chinese lanterns. Quite common in my area on an occasion such as new years eve...especially when you say they appeared right at midnight.
