Man killed by cow falling through his ceiling

A Brazilian farmer wound up dead after a cow fell through the ceiling of his house while he was in bed.

The bizarre accident took place in the town of Caratinga, home to Joao Maria de Souza whose house was situated next to a hillside on which several cows were grazing. When one of the bovines stepped on to the corrugated roof of the house the structure gave way, dropping the cow right on to where the unsuspecting farmer was sleeping. He was taken to hospital but his injuries were too severe and he died the next day. His wife, who had been sleeping next to him, narrowly escaped unscathed.

According to local news reports this is the third such incident to happen within the last few years. Nobody died in the previous two cases, however one of the cows narrowly missed a baby and child who had been sleeping right next to where it fell through.

"A cow has fallen through the roof of a house in south-eastern Brazil killing a man and narrowly missing his wife."

Wasn't there an old western that had cows grazing on a roof.

I'd much prefer this to the way the poor guy in Florida died earlier this year. One second he's in bed and the next he's been swallowed by a sinkhole that's a hundred feet deep.... bizarre.... . man, that's the pits..... ;-)

I just remembered the bul elephant in india. He would knock on your door at night and then kill the one that answered the door. You were not safe in a moving car either.

So the cow just stepped onto the roof of the house and then subsequently fell through. Surely this scenario was foreseen by the farmer - but apparently not. Oh, well.

Shh! That's bad publicity for Chick-Fil-A. Those Holstein's really get around! I had a cow look in my window once in the morning, scared the daylights out of me seeing a drooling, chomping cow head first thing when you wake up...
