In September this year, a woman in Guyana was convicted of bludgeoning a friend to death. Her friend, she explained, was possessed, and she was trying to beat the Devil out. In Romania, meanwhile, a priest and four nuns from the Romanian Orthodox Church are on trial, accused of murdering a 23-year-old novice.

In his defence, the priest who led the exorcism has claimed his approach was better than the medical treatment she had been receiving for her schizophrenia.

It definately sounds like a schizophrenic episode. With her religious background being the reason she saw demonic faces, and voices saying she was damned. Not a possession in my opinion.

I have only met one person with Schizophrenia and when he was off his meds could easily be said to be possessed. Scared the hell out of the rest of us.

That's the problem with "possessions". some people cannot differentiate it from mental illness.

well....as for possessions...i think its possible for a spirit to inhabit someone's body...taking over their energies, and evenb making them become psychoticbut, in this case, since she was having hallucinations of demons, i am considering it was a mental relaps, most likely schizophrenia...this was probably brought on from having a very excitable mind that was very suggestive, and maybe her parents were extremely unruley in forcing their religious beleifs on heri have had battles with this illness myself...and i dunno exactly how i got better, but i am just not being bothered by it right...
