Mona Lisa death mystery solved

"An expert on the “Mona Lisa” says he has ascertained with certainty that the symbol of feminine mystique died on July 15, 1542, and was buried at the convent in central Florence where she spent her final days."

I didn't realize her death WAS a mystery. Oops. So, they want to dig up Lisa Gherardini's remains now, to do a facial reconstruction, to find out if it's really her in the Mona Lisa? Man, why can't people just leave well enough alone? What if they find that it was her (or worse, that it wasn't)? Does that mean that the value of the painting, or the interest that it generates, will be lessened? I just think some things are better left a mystery... This just seems to have "asking for trouble" written all over it...

Yeah, I guess that the Louvre won't be so happy to learn that their best money maker has lost some of its intrigue. Personally I would have thought it wise to not go looking...I mean...isn't it more fun to guess?

And another mystery of Mona Lisa was ended: her living descendants were found - Natalia and Irina Strozzi Guicciardini.

So the husband had in his will, that 4 years after he dies, she is to commit suicide at the San Lorenzo Basilica? She's The Symbol of the feminine mystique... I gag

i saw in a documentary in school that the Mona Lisa painting is di Vinci's own self portrait only reversed and colored and changed AND one of my art teachers in high school said she was not a real person so i am confused
