The thinnest material known to man

user posted image rScientists have created the thinnest material in the world and predict that it will revolutionise computing and medical research. A layer of carbon has been manufactured in a film only one atom thick that defies the laws of physics. Placed in layers on top of each other it would take 200,000 membranes to reach high enough to match the thickness of a human hair.

The substance, graphene, was created two years ago but could be made only when stuck to another material.

Is it really two-dimensional? If so, that's wicked cool. I would imagine this being used as a stepping stone for entertainment, like... Real-world 8-bit video games...?

imagine if we could use this material for wires in lap tops, soon laptops will be thin as paper

I know they created a nano motor, its the smallest object made by human,if they use it to make the cellules of your body doesn't stop from working it could help a lot since the motor works like a "receives what gives".So it never stops.

Blimey, with this technology, Imagen how small or thin Ipods or TomTom Navigation Systems will be! What about the currently thinnest Computer/Laptop/TV? Lol, its going to be Mad having MEGA thin stuff all the time.

This will make for computers with massive ram and memory that are the size of regualr computers i think.

I'm sorry my dear, I'm a bit confused as to what you're saying. Are you saying that they're developing technology to make humans life forever?

They want to adapt it for human organism,of course they have to do a lot of experiences.

I saw that on a documentary from (if I'm not mistaken) Odisseia Channel.

Now about the on-topic,that material will be very expensive to use.

I'm sure it will be at first. But like everything, they always find a way to save money and mass produce.

What else would they use it for though?
