I hope for all our sakes that the Y2K, the end of the world phenomenons and the defense against meteor/natural disasters issues so prevalent in media coverage hasn't made us all into the "boy who cried wolf" when it comes to solar flares in the future. They seem so benign but the real damage they can do while not immediately life threatening could unravel the basic infrastructures, economic and social, of many of our current civilisations on this earth with some pretty extreme possible consequences.

I fear the same, that the media abused so much about Y2K and ''end of the world'' stories, that if,when something real would happened, that no one would care.
