This would have been an interesting question were any homework of true fact-finding mission done first. This Post would have been right at home if it were posted say 60 years ago. There are all kinds of Post Detection Policies in place here in the US and abroad, LOL The most notable of which is the French Cometa Report which has garnered WORLD-WIDE recognition? Yup. you're good. Seriously though, my reaction and preparedness will be proportional to how hostile aliens are, but I need advance notice of 3 weeks.

When Orson Wells made his radio broadcast back in the 1930's "War Of The Worlds" people thought it was a real life invasion and panic. Now days people are a little more conditioned about aliens thanks to Hollywood movies and documentaries on tv. But there still is a long ways to go on the human conditioning about ET. People tend to ridicule the idea that ET could be observing us and consider it Taboo. Religion or Science has conditioned us to think otherwise. If we can break those bounds, Maybe we can be more prepared.

Here's how I look at it: If you are a young boy and you are alone with your younger brother, then you basically are in control of the situation. But when your Dad shows up, you are down at the level of your brother again. This, I think, is how the Earth's ruling elite looks at ET. Aliens show up with their toys and we won't listen to human authority anymore. It's been proven that the arrival of an advanced civilization can turn a less-advanced culture right on its head.
