You're assuming the media refused to report it, indicating that what this ONE person is saying, out the hundreds of thousands who served in Vietnam, is absolute truth.

And the destroyer in question was the HMAS Hobart (D 39).. During the evening of 16-17 June, the three destroyers were ordered to undertake surveillance missions around Tiger Island, because of reports of North Vietnamese helicopter activity in the area.[44] At 03:09, Hobart's radar picked up an aircraft approaching with no IFF transponder active.[45] At 03:14, the aircraft fired a single missile at the ship, which killed one sailor, wounded two others, and damaged the chief petty officer's mess, air search radar and missile control compartments, and the ship's funnels.[46] Two min... One key thing this guy left out, all while he kept emphasizing "General, General" was that General Brown didn't think the UFO's seen were alien craft. General Brown was quoted as calling them nothing more than atmospherics... The guy in this clip is an idiot.. 10 minutes of Google debunked him..

You are assuming a lot here. First, that any of that really happened. Second, that UFO = ET. If this really happened and the press did not report it might have been out of concern for military security. There was a war going on after all and something in the air could have been an enemy military threat. People love to build things like this into all kinds of fantastic tales. You are also assuming the general is compos mentis. Before you call cover-up consider how you might be wrong.
