About this blog

I am not a random, non-sensical lunatic, and my blog is not full of inane rants and ravings. What's so great about that stuff anyway?

You can if you think you can

usually, i really hate those sappy, feel-good "you can if you think you can" type stories (i mean, REALLY), but i have one to relate that is 100% real and can fill up a blog entry very nicely indeed. first, let me introduce the cast. i was going to change their names to protect their identities, but i decided i didnt need to, mainly since theyre all chickens: Attila the Hun - a Sumatra, among the very top of the pecking order, big, strong, mean, a real lady's man, and he gets anything he wants

UM social shifts and rubber chickens

M. Falco said that, and its got me thinking. thats not the only big shift going on on UM right now. does it seem to anybody else that the younger members are being accepted more and more into the forum? lately i see us being truly listened to, and recognized, and most of all, stepping outside of our age group and talking and being talked to, in ways that we havent been doing in a long time. i got a rubber chicken today. it was supposed to be a christmas present, but it came in the mail late. it

Traditional Morality

Ive mentioned Traditional Morality several times on UM. i think i understand it well enough to explain it now, so i will. Traditional Morality is the political.....movement, since i cant think of a better word for it, that advocates a return to the traditional moral-type beliefs of the past (meaning mostly Christian-based). of course, the people that follow this movement (called Traditional Moralists) dont all believe the same exact things, but, in general, they think the government should take

The Peculiar and Paradoxical Mr. Pwibble

a "pointless" style shortstory, that started out as a character sketch, much inspired by Disch. as always, imput is vastly appreciated. The Peculiar and Paradoxical Mr. Pwibble Mr. Pwibble was a sweet, happy little man that lived in a sweet-looking, happy little house. He was, on the surface, what most people associate with a sweet, happy little man; he was short, with a smiling face and squinty eyes, and absolutely no hair on the top of his head but great mounds of frizzy, spirally hair o

the Mardi Gras

ill just leave you with one thought for today, mainly because i feel like month-old rotted cake, the thought being that we dont just celebrate the Mardi Gras, we succumb to it. MARDI GRAS MAD.

spam

an artical i found. note that the whole thing cannot be taken seriously. Spam, an important word in internet terminology, has two main definitions: One ~ an unwanted E-mail message, often one that advertises a website, attempts to sell a product, or begs the receiver of the message to forward an attached chain letter Two ~ any misplaced conversation on an internet forum It is the second definition that we are concerned with. A ‘misplaced conversation’ would mean a conversation that’

Snoop-dog, Socrates, Tull & death to computers

my entry to-day is somewhat shallow and definantely not thought provoking. bare with me. Socrates said, "The wise are doubtful." that is so true. if anybody reading that happens to think it would make a good profile quote or something, have at it. i respect George Foreman. hes not just a famous, rich black man; hes a famous, rich, black, SMART man. he has invested smart. unlike most of these damn famous people, he came out with more money in the end than he had in the beginning and still wit

sleepless mudboots

so i didnt sleep tonight. how does mudboots occupy his time when hes got an entire night with nothing to do? i read an entire book on mythical creatures in heraldry and design motifs. when i couldnt focus my eyes enough for that, i watched Easy Rider. about when they were on an LSD trip in the cemetary with the two prostitutes, i was so zoned out i was almost on an acid trip myself. minus the acid, just the trip. but i stayed up all night. no nightmares for me. you know when the two main char

Sixteen Tons

this is my absolute favorite song of all time. best when done by Tennesse Earnie Ford. Some people say a man is made out of mud A poor man's made out of muscle and blood Muscle and blood and skin and bones A mind that's weak and a back that's strong Chorus: You load sixteen tons, and whattaya get? Another day older and deeper in debt St. Peter don'cha call me, cause I can't go I owe my soul to the company sto' I was born one morning when the sun didn't shine I picked up my

revised band list

in april i made an entry that was a list of my favorite bands. well, my tastes have changed alot since that time (for instance, im tired of country music, zydeco, and alot of my previously favorite rock bands) so today i started out with a mission: make a new, revised and improved list of my favorite bands. but i kept narrowing down and narrowing down the old, way-too-lengthy list until i ended up with just this: Peter, Paul and Mary (Folk) John Denver (Folk/Country/Pop) James Taylor (Folk

pointlessness

you know what? chimpanzees can learn to recognize their reflection in mirrors, but monkeys cannot. and something else; in about twenty-seven days, an average human has had all the skin cells on his/her face replaced. i wonder why i stay on this forum. i have lots of fun here, its my all-time favorite site on the internet. i dont really have any friends here. there are alot of people that are very nice to me when they dont have to be, im friendly with alot of people, but i dont really have

POEM HELP!

I saw an Owl Late last night; The night the moon Was glowing bright. The owl glided In the moon’s pearly light On silent wings – A gorgeous sight. The Owl touch’d down To the thick-grassed ground And flew up again Without a sound. As the owl flew off I thought I saw That it had a mouse In its firm-gripping claw. Some death is as quiet As the flight of a bird; Some death is as quiet As an unspoken word. I wrote that poem myself, and i rather proud of it. i

planning my life - advice?

i'm seventeen. in the spring of 2008, i will graduate highschool. for a long time, ive been sort of passive about what happened to me, sort of going with the flow. I realized ive been almost distanced from what was happening to me. as if i was a spectator. anyway, about a week ago, for some reason it occured to me that i was actually in charge, more or less, of my life. i now have no idea what i want to DO with the rest of my life. my parents have steered me towards definitely going to college a

planning my life - #2

okay, so ive though about it and have come to a conclusion. my parents have been saving for college for me, and i'm going to be able to get A LOT of scholarships. so ive decided it would be smart to go to college after highschool, and utilize the opportunity; and maybe i'll figure out what i want to do after a couple years. thats what my parents were suggesting anyway (see that? i'm listening to my parents. at least in part), just taking general courses until i get a better idea. who knows, i mi

nightmare & reality check

well, i had the most horrible dream last night that i have ever had i my life. unfortunately, i escaped being killed in the dream. that means ill have to watch the continuation of the story the next time i go to sleep. because of this, the next time i go to sleep will not be tonight. or, if i can help it, the night after that. i hate to think how much technology has invaded my life within the past two years. if you had asked me three years ago why i didnt want a computer with the internet, i

next fad

i read a neat artical in some magazine. it was about 'fad hunters'. fad hunters are people hired by big clothing companies to figure out what is going to be the next fad, and of course the idea is to figure it out BEFORE it gets popular. they interview folks that are agreed to be cool, like famous singers and movie stars and such, and observe sale trends in clothes and music and such; they dont decide what will be cool next, they just get cool folks to help them figure it out. right now, the

More Stuff (sounds interesting, doesnt it?)

well, i thought of a bit more to say. {yet another warning: i dont know what im talking about in this entry....but pay attention to me!!!!!!!!!} gosh, the democrats. its okay to burn, cut up, trample in mud, make ponchos out of, or in any way disrespect the american flag because its free speech! but the confederate flag? AHHH! MUST NOT BE ALLOWED! the democrats are so unpopular in the south there is practically a bounty on them. i would talk about social security, but i dont know anything

More Leftist Idiocy

well, what do you know, the liberals in California are now b****ing and whining about school busing. one of them said on the news this morning 'tremendous amounts of money are being spent on school busing, money which could be better spent on actual education'. (or something to that effect, im not quoting him exactly). well, gosh, havent the conservatives been saying that all along? since those exact same california liberals started the whole fuss about 'school busing for integration' to begin w

Medieval Bestiary

This is a writing project i felt like trying. i might add more later. First, let me tell a little about what a bestiary is. In the medieval ages, the Catholic Church had outlawed the owning of a Bible or any other religious book by any one not part of the clergy, with the exceptions of breviaries, the book of Psalms, and bestiaries. Bestiaries were short, magazine-like publications, full of brief descriptions of a real or imaginary animal’s appearance and habits. These little descriptions w

liberal dumbness

okay, the greatest manifestation of stupidity on a liberal television news channel ever......... theres a big bad criminal on the run, hes wanted by the law badly, theres a huge manhunt thing, and the news channel describes him with details like: wearing a grey parka and bright orange tennis shoes clean-shaven so-and-so feet tall last seen in so-and-so sort of vehicle and so on. but they never, NEVER tell you if he's a black guy, a white guy, an oriental guy, or whatever, because thats
