markdohle 6,095 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Share I find that more and more common on youtube, it is because people seem to be getting ruder, to put it mildly, in how they react to what is posted. Too bad, a few posters make it hard for others to respond. Both atheist, of the villiage varity and some fantical Christians can't seem to stop insulting each other on the web.....easy to do I guess. It is a shame and cowardly in the end. Bill Stien is a Christian and an intelligent man, so is Dawkins, I feel that people should be able to respond but not in the flaming way that seems to be getting more and more common. Both sides fail to live up to what they actually say about themselves I believe and yes at times I do to, being human and all ;-). or trying to be. Peace mark Link to comment
StarMountainKid 9,497 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Share What I object to in this video is Mr. Stein putting words in Mr. Dawkins' mouth, or inferring Dawkins' statements mean something he has not said. I think this kind of behavior should disturb people on both sides of the issue. I think it is unfair for Mr. Stein to comment in this way post-production. Leave this discussion alone to stand on its own merits. People are rude sometimes, probably including myself, but I think calling someone out on their own rudeness within videos is not in itself rude. This is a subject that encourages definite feelings on both sides, let's say. It is difficult not to criticize the messenger along with the message, but some blame can be applied to the messenger when one considers that person to be misleadingly manipulating the subject at hand for his own purposes. I enjoy reading all your stuff, mark. Hope I haven't been too rude to you in the past. Link to comment
markdohle 6,095 Posted February 28, 2013 Report Share I see your point my friend. I agree it is hard to sometimes keep civil. I think Stein is reacting to some of Dawkins statments about those who have faith at other times in the past, or his statments about God etc. Dawkins is human, so I believe he sometimes over steps like most of us do, I know I do. I also enjoy reading you. Your stories are wonderful and well written. I would never think you rude my friend, just honest and fair, at least from what I experience from you.
