Inattention towards faith
We must accept finite disappointment but never lose infinite hope.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
We can lose something valuable by inattention or carelessness; these are actual choices. In order to keep what is precious alive and vibrant, it must be worked for. Be it friendships, marriage, career, and for me what is most important, faith. People can live without being aware that they have a Spirit and that it needs to be attended to. If not it remains childish because what is immature about our faith must be grown out of, if this is forgotten, then in times of stress, chaos, and deep crisis, the shallowness of our faith is shown for what it is…..something good perhaps for a child, but almost useless for an adult. Children mature, so should faith, it is something chosen, developed over a long period of time. Many think faith is for the weak, but in actuality, only the strong can deepen their trust in God and in life. Many give up and fall into cynicism and are applauded for it by an often shallow and thoughtless popular culture.-Br.MD
