The Mark of the Beast??

It may be obvious that I do not know what I'm doing here, nor what I'm saying. However, I'm told this is typical when one is under the spell of any of the Muses, especially in my case, where more than one is inspiring me at the same time. They say that under those conditions we are in an altered state of mind, and most of the times it does not, immediately, make any sense to us. And if we try to convey to others our first impressions of the inspirational episodes before we have understood it clearly ourselves, it makes even less sense to them, especially if we convey it all at once. These bursts of inspiration we receive need time to ripen, and further reflection, because the Muses rarely paint the whole picture for us with just one burst. It may take several sessions to convey it to us. Like when composing a musical score, it takes several takes before the piece is complete to put on the air. Sometimes it takes months, and even years to get all the message, to get it just right. Only when it's fully ripe can it be at its best. However, as time goes by, the inspirational message becomes more muffled, if it's not actively thought upon in between takes. And sometimes the message fades completely, leaving only a slight hint of it, which may come back only in the form we refer to as, déjà vu. Therefore, unless the Muses' Mother comes to our aid, we can kiss that particular inspiration goodby.

Having paid my due respects firsthand, please have mercy, as this is my first attempt at having a blog here, and this is the first entry, obviously. I apologize, upfront, for my grammar, and anything that is wrong with it, essence wise. I expect encouragement and literary advice from anyone who may stumble by, and takes pity on a poor and confused soul. Well, here goes nothing, as they say. A new Heaven and Earth are coming soon to this, seeming, something out of Nothing.

Symbolism contained in the Bible, my muses tell me, is multilayered. The prophetic messages revealed by the prophets may not be clear to us, at first glance, nor when they first told others, or wrote it down. We may begin to really understand the prophecies for what they really mean, only when the time draws near. As we know, there are many who take the contents of the Bible literally. What they read they take as being Gospel truth. Some understand that there's symbolism in it also, and so to them it's not all literally true, but also contains symbolic passages, a combination. All who believe in the Bible, regardless, believe it's God's very words they are reading. We also have a lot of cherry-pickers, who pick and choose from the Bible as their needs, wants and occasions demand. We have most of all, many who only see it their way, and so we have all kinds of Christians in the world.

In these times, being "cool," to be in vogue, in step with style, and to "fit in" with the stylish society at large, it's no longer a matter of dawning designer clothes. No, not Gucci, nor Prada, nor Benetton, not even the saintly Yves Saint Laurent, will do. The body's signature coverings we wear, alone, will not get the job done anymore. To be in style today, in these times, what is also needed is body markings, tattoos, to express ourselves, showing to others where we belong, and what we think, and what we value. Tattoos all over the body, where some are easily visible, and some not so visible, those on the private parts area. Those hidden markings are only for certain eyes to see. Some have only one tattoo, some have more...the more is more common. Some have them on their hands, arms, legs, back, front, face, and some even on their foreheads. Then there are those that no longer have any space left on their bodies, should they want another one. Those are the ones in full style. Apparently, outer clothing with designer markings are no longer stylish enough to be accepted as being hip, and if we want to buy and sell our popularity, tattoos are a must. Movie stars, pro athletes, politicians, doctors, teachers, students, priests, businessman have them. Both man and women, you name it, old and young alike, rich or poor, and even slaves, they all have them. The display of body markings is a necessity, if we want to get in step with the times. Of course, there still are many who have none, and I'm one of them, and so is my wife. However I do have a daughter with two tiny ones on her wrists. Friends have them too, and some other family members. My brother has had a number of them done over 40 years ago, when they were not that popular. Used to be that mainly some sailors and a lot of jailbirds got marked with them. Many poor souls got forcibly tattooed, like the branding of animals for ownership recognition, a great many of those were in the WW2 concentration camps, and they just got numbered, no pretty butterflies or catchy slogans, just serial numbers.

Intentional tattoos are just symbols, a personal expression of what's dear and near to the bearer, and are meant for others to see.

If I ever get to the point of weakness of wanting to be marked, I'm going to get one single tattoo, which will, alone, express my deepest self, and says it all. It would have to be in miniature, really small, infinitesimal really, as I could never display, on my body alone, what is the real me. And what is that that is real in me? My SOUL, the hell with my body. With one soul, I can get all the bodies I want. I'll have to get an invisible tattoo, since the soul is invisible in this world of style and bodily display. Which means that I'll get marked only against my will, if I do. I don't need nor want one. And besides, my soul has tattoos already, lots of them, all lines of text, no symbols required, as they are all true words. Written on my soul before I got my first body, ever.

Revelation: Then I saw a second beast, coming out of the earth. It had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. 12It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wound had been healed. 13And it performed great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to the earth in full view of the people. 14Because of the signs it was given power to perform on behalf of the first beast, it deceived the inhabitants of the earth. It ordered them to set up an image in honor of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived. 15The second beast was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that the image could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.

18This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.

Darn it, that figure is upside down, as it should read 999. Why? Because wisdom calls on us to prove all things. As they say, "trust, but verify". Faith without the works of mathematics, is a dead ringer for failing to understand that the physical universe was designed, and governed by the Best Designer that can ever exist. And it operates under his Absolute Tyranny, otherwise it would all fall apart, without His Absolute Laws of Physics. Home James! James 2: 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

14 What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? 15 Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

Plato's Laws

ATHENIAN: I should wish the citizens to be as readily persuaded to virtue as possible; this will surely be the aim of the legislator in all his laws.

CLEINIAS: Certainly.

ATHENIAN: The proposal appears to me to be of some value; and I think that a person will listen with more gentleness and good-will to the precepts addressed to him by the legislator, when his soul is not altogether unprepared to receive them. Even a little done in the way of conciliation gains his ear, and is always worth having. For there is no great inclination or readiness on the part of mankind to be made as good, or as quickly good, as possible. The case of the many proves the wisdom of Hesiod, who says that the road to wickedness is smooth and can be travelled without perspiring, because it is so very short: ’But before virtue the immortal Gods have placed the sweat of labour, and long and steep is the way thither, and rugged at first; but when you have reached the top, although difficult before, it is then easy.’ (Works and Days)

Anyone ever hear of the trick of the nines? It's the trick of the Devil too, he was looking down when he wrote 999. And the unsuspecting prophet, John, who was the "man on the ground," saw the vision of the writing from his ground view, and obviously he saw it as being written 666. It's also hard to see when one is having visions in a dark cave in Patmos. An honest mistake? He could not see up from down, although eventually told to come and have a look, but that was only after the number was written.

For divisibility by 9, this test is called the rule of nines and is the basis of the casting out nines technique for checking calculations.

Maybe the new Earth is the current Earth, but redone for a new aeon. Who's to say that the Mark of the Beast has to be a computer chip? It just as likely could be a tattoo. A lot of people wonder about 999. One example is that silver rounds, more than gold rounds, get represented as .999 pure. Turning it upside down it looks like 666° the root of all evil. 9 has other strange properties that I have discovered bored in math class on my calculator. I call 9 a selfish number compared to 6 because every exponent of nine adds up to 9 if you add up the numbers in sequence.

9^2=81.  8+1=9

9^3=729.     7+2+9=18.     1+8=9

9^4=6561.    6+5+6+1=18.    1+8=9

9^5=59049.    5+9+0+4+9=27.    2+7=9

9^6=531441.     5+3+1+4+4+1=18.    1+8=9

and so on.

Thanks for dropping in, and sharing your thoughts. As I once heard: All things are possible with the Lord. What a good Father would not do, just to keep his children entertained?  I know that I have played the part of a fool to entertain mine, when they were toddlers. We remain children in God's eyes, and in His eternal Kingdom, as there is no time there for growing up. As far the math, since God is the Best, and he created everything, it's only natural that He would be the Best mathematician. He would know numbers best, and how to use and manipulate them, if He wanted. After all, as we can see from this physical universe, it's governed by His absolute physical laws. I say see, only in reference to the effects the laws have, because this laws are invisible to us, but we can see the control they have in our universe, through the effects. We do not know all the effects, or possibly all of His laws, but of what we speculate on, we begin to see the truth through mathematical equations.

If anyone of us sees any specific patterns through numbers, it may have some real meaning and purpose. It just has to be verified through trial and error, to see it there's really some meaning and purpose. I'm certain that you already know this, but for the sake of the poor in knowledge, The sum of all the numbers on the roulette wheel (from 0 to 36) is 666, which is the "Number of the Beast". I take it that it may not be a coincidence, since gambling in any casino is always in the House's favor, as far the odds go. See Las Vegas? It has a nickname, Sin City,  It's all in the math, the law of probabilities.

In the above quote from your first paragraph, you have correctly identified the crux of the problem with Revelations.

There is no sense to be made of a Muse from an author 2000 years ago who didn't fully understand the Muse himself.

And yet...you attempt to.

Suffice to say, the OM (original muse) was based on a false premise....a false belief.  John tells us on the onset it's a 'revelation' from Jesus Christ...ahem...who was at the time, and still is, very, very dead.  The only way therefore that any sense can be  made of such a muse, is to view it in the context in which it was written.   It makes total sense, if viewed within the context of 'the bible'.  The problem is that none of 'the bible' translates into real world context, i.e.  reality.

Hal Lindsey wrote a book back in the 70s called The 1980s: Count Down To Armageddon.  Well, he was obviously wrong.  There is no countdown to anything.  Reality happens.  And it is inevitable that, given the human natural drive to control other humans, we end a fury of fire.  That is reality.  But there is no Armageddon.  Not now...not ever.  The armies of the world will never be surrounding Jerusalem.  It is a fantasy muse from ancient days.

Muse on my friend!
