Do the Three Stooges Haunt Bensonhurst?
Paul Dale Roberts, HPI's Esoteric Detective
Sacramento Paranormal Investigations
Halo Paranormal Investigations

I get some interesting paranormal hotline calls and on 5/2/2023, I received two interesting calls. The first call was from Dru Lopez. His ring camera caught an apparition walking in front of his house. I told Dru to send me the footage on my email account. Here is the video he sent me:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=v3Gm9ezw5N0  You can definitely see a shadow figure walking past the ring camera. The next call is from Marco Moretti from Queens.  Marco tells me that he was visiting friends in Bensonhurst. Marco was walking down 86th Street and saw two guys that resembled Moe and Curly Howard of the Three Stooges.  Marco thought they were just actors imitating the Three Stooges.  Marco tells me that the Howard Brothers are from Bensonhurst and many other famous people are from this section of New York City. As Marco walked past these two guys that looked like Moe and Curly, Marco chuckled to himself and decided to say something to them. Marco was going to ask..."where's Larry?"  When Marco turned around, they were nowhere to be seen. Marco says sure, there were people on the sidewalk, but he would have been able to have seen them on this street. There was no way, that they could have disappeared in a couple of seconds. Marco kept saying to himself.."no way!"  Marco thought about if for a few days and now believes he saw the ghosts of Moe and Curly.  Marco even remembers as he walked past these two figures that his shoulder should have touched Moe's arm and now that Marco is thinking about this more, he feels his arm went right through Moe's arm. Marco asked me if I ever heard that Moe and Curly's ghosts haunt Bensonhurst?  My answer is "no", I have never heard about apparition sightings of Moe and Curly, but I can tell you is that Bensonhurst is very haunted. Legend has it that Bensonhurst is haunted by a few deceased mafia figures.  Below is a list of haunted places in Bensonhurst:

McCaren Park: Poolside Girl Ghost and the Ghost of Sally Dogs.
McCaren Park is just a few miles from Bensonhurst, New York.  On a park bench, locals have said that they have seen the ghost of Genovese Capo Salvatore “Sally Dogs” Lombardi sitting at a bench. Sometimes when they see him, he appears to be reading a newspaper and then he fades out. McCaren Park also has a large pool that opened in 1936.  For a while they closed the pool because of the drowning of a little girl.  To this day people still see the McCaren Park girl ghost who haunts the poolside.  On hot Summer days, people at the pool will feel cold spots by the pool.  They believe the cold spots are from the little girl ghost.

Bayside Cemetery: Shadow People of Bayside Cemetery
Bayside Cemetery is a historic Jewish cemetery. People who visit this cemetery feel like they are being watched. Some people say they smell rotten meat. Apparitions and shadow people have been seen roaming around the cemetery. One local mentioned that they were surrounded by four shadow people and when she started praying, the shadow people departed.

Cunard Hall - Wagner College: The Jumper and The Snake Persico.
Cunard Hall was built by Edward Cunard, son and heir of shipping magnate Samuel Cunard. The hall is now part of Wagner College. In 1890, a man leaped to his death from a second-story window, and witnesses have seen his face peering from the windows. Locals have made claim that they have seen the Columbo Family gangster Carmine “The Snake” Persico walking the grounds outside of the hall.
Mickey Rochelli, a long-time resident of Bensonhurst says that two ghosts haunt the hall. They are The Jumper and The Snake Persico.  Mickey claims to have seen both ghosts.

Other Places that are Haunted in Bensonhurst
Other places in Bensonhurst that are known to be haunted are the Jewish Baron Hirsch Cemetery. People feel cold spots and an apparition of a woman in a green dress has been seen. At Litchfield Villa, glowing gargoyle demons have been seen. At Sailor's Snug Harbor aka Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden, people have seen the ghosts of 19th century sailors. They have also seen a Lady in White moving about the garden.  At Oriental Manor Catering Hall - American Place, staff say that this place is haunted by three ghosts.  They hear disembodied footsteps, doors will open and close and one staff member mentioned that she felt an invisible hand stroking her long hair. The ghost stroked her hair on three different occasions.  At Fort Wadsworth, people have seen ghostly soldiers and a tourist claims that she jumped into the consciousness of a deceased curly haired nurse that witnessed soldiers dying all around her.  Garibaldi-Meucci Museum is haunted by a woman ghost named Ester.  Ester was buried in the front yard of this museum and you can hear her making groaning sounds and coughing loudly.
