The True Nature of God

I find it interesting how hard is for Christians (me included) to understand how Personal the Infinite, the Ground of all Being, that which is Wholly Other, is.  Perhaps if God could feel frustration, I would imagine that it would flow from our hard-headedness, and hard-heartedness in even beginning to understand the love God has for all His children.  It is certainly a cause of inner suffering for me when I understand how slow I am in this regard. 

Jesus taught that the true nature of God is love, compassion, empathy, and long suffering for each of His children.  That if there is a human being who is truly the ‘least’ that person is no less loved than the ‘greatest’. 

He used the term “Father” to give us a picture of the nature of the Infinite.  In the parable of the Prodigal Son, we are shown the overflowing love of the God for His children.  I would say that we are at times in our lives all prodigal sons and daughters. 

It has taken almost 75 years for this reality to even begin to heal my often fearful, anxious heart.  We are truly one with Christ Jesus, or Jesus is one with each of us.  As we open our hearts to His love this slowly becomes a reality.

The desert must be gone though, we learn to love through suffering and struggle.  It causes us to wake up to the importance of our lives and how our relationship with God allows us to order our lives according to His will.  If left to us, well, all we must do is to see how the world has gone all through history.

Christ with us, Christ in us, Christ embracing us, Christ healing us, Christ suffering with us, as we slowly allow grace to do its work.  We just need to take the next step, or get up, or to begin now the eternal journey towards true union with the Father.

All Christians belong to the Priesthood of the people of God.  In our prayer, it is the Holy Spirit who leads us to lift all of mankind into the fiery love of the Trinity-Br.MD

If this is true, why did God invent Hell?  Is it in any way loving, compassionate, empathetic or long suffering to punish finite sins with infinite torment? Surely and obviously this act was grossly unjust? Your imagining of God has much more to do with Buddhist re-imaginings of the Christian Godhead than it does with the wrathful and jealous God of the Old and New Testaments.   Remember, the God you love also created Satan and the Fallen Angels, and He did so in full knowledge of what He was doing, because he is omniscient.  I strongly suggest you read Dan Barker's Book God: The Most Unpleasant Character in All Fiction,  https://www.amazon.com/God-Most-Unpleasant-Character-Fiction/dp/1454918322 as it will help to disabuse you of these lovey-dovey notions of God you have cherrypicked.  I would also point out that the Buddha, known for his wisdom and compassion, whom you seem to be referencing, strongly suggests it is a bad idea to worship evil gods.  it is very difficult to ethically reconcile the God of Abraham with anything that might be called Goodness, love, compassion, empathy etc.  Even the character of Jesus leaves much to be desired if reviewed in a moderately critical light.

I am aware of all the questions you have brought up.  Yet, the love of God does shine through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
As for hell, if a person rejects God's love, all that is left is themselves for eternity, which I guess could be called hell.  God did
not create Satan, Satan created himself by making a free choice, that goes for the demons as well.  Also, God is not lovey dovey,
as is shown by what Christ went through for our salvation.  Believe it or not, that is your free choice my friend. 

Confirmation bias is always at work in all of us, I could say you cherry pick as well, as does the author you recommend that I have read.
