About The Okavango Delta
The Okavango Delta, is a vast wilderness with many streams. Near the Delta you have the very dry Kalahari Desert. The Delta itself is filled with life. You will find green shrubbery, trees, wetlands, waterways that cover 5,800 square miles of Botswana flatland creating a habitat that has an abundance of animal species. It is also the home of several endangered species. The Delta has seen its share of death. Death for animals that are being poached and death for humans who have died from their hunts or fighting with warring tribes. Skirmishes have taken place, and those skirmishes have an everlasting residual effect on the land. The most haunted area is Shinde Island, located in the Okavango Delta of Botswana - Africa. It's a remote area that has many horror stories in its long history.  Paranormal activity has been seen by many locals.  From hearing mysterious moaning noises to the appearance of ghostly "water people". What is unusual about the "water people" is that it can be a very hot day, in the 3 digits and if you see a water person ghost, the ghost looks like it is dripping with water. Legend has it that these are victims of various wars that have occurred on this land and that their bodies were left to rot in the Delta. They are restless spirits that were not properly buried.

Horror Story of Shinde Island, Okavango Delta
When the sun goes down, people who live in the Delta will shelter in their homes.  At times a cloudy mist will hover over the Delta. Most people do not live in the Delta, but the ones that do, fear the restless spirits that will hunt them if they are out in the open in the Delta. The vengeful spirits will hunt down living humans and drag them into the Delta wetlands to drown them. Inhabitants of the Delta will hear chanting in the beginning and then the apparitions of dead warriors will appear in the Delta and on Shinde Island.

The Horrific Outcome of Delta Explorers
There is a story about the Delta that locals verbally pass on to their children, that warns them of the dangers of the Delta.  On one particular night, there were some explorers that were warned about exploring the Delta at night.  But despite the fearful warnings, a good size group of brave explorers remained, determined to unravel the secrets of Shinde Island. With their only light source being the stars that dance above, they set out on a dangerous journey, unaware of the terror that awaits them. As they explored the ancient ruins, they begin to hear eerie noises coming from the shadows. They were hearing low guttural moans and hollow clanking, like the rattle of chains. The explorers experienced sheer terror as one of their colleagues was dragged away by a possible Water Person spirit and drowned in the Delta. The explorers heard his terrifying scream and then there was silence.

Legend of the Delta
It is said that the people of the Delta in this type of situation will grow increasingly unnerved by the haunting sounds. They will hit the ground and cower in fear.  It is said that an invisible force suddenly will rush towards them and drag one unfortunate soul away. The victim's terrified screams will be heard echoing across the abandoned island as his friends scramble to save him. That unfortunate soul will never be seen again. The few remaining survivors fled the island, never to set foot on it again. But, to this day, the terror of Shinde Island still lingers in the night air.

J'ba FoFi & The Blister Man
While there are many evil spirts in the Delta, it is also rumored that a cryptid known as the J'ba FoFi sometimes are hidden in the trees.  The J’ba FoFi is also known as the Congolese Giant Spider and is possibly a new species of Arachnid. The J’ba FoFi sets traps for its prey much the same way as a trap-door spider.  The eggs of the creature are a pale yellow or white and peanut shaped. Hatchlings are a bright yellow with a purple stomach. As they get older, they become dark brown. The spider is so frightening because of its size. It has a leg span of nearly five feet and preys on birds and other small game. It is thought to be highly venomous. Some locals have fell victim to this vicious dangerous spider. There is a story that an inhabitant of the Delta was attacked by several J'ba FoFi. He died in the Delta and now his spirit is seen in the wetlands. The spirit has large pus blisters on his face and chest area. English explorers refer this spirit as the "Blister Man".
