  4. In the case of the Lake Champlain monster the claim in a circa 1960 article was that Samuel de Champlain saw the monster and described it as serpentine with a head lie a horse. For a decade after that article came out reports were of that nature. Head like a horse was a common report. Here's the problem. Champlain never saw the lake monster. That was made up. How do we know? The original claim said it was in his log book. It exists. It has been checked. This is a recent example of people reporting what they have heard is the sighting even if the report on which they base their sightings is complete fiction.
  5. Doing God's will.

Every new choice is independent of every other past choice. How else would it be possible to realize that you were ever wrong about something? How could anyone ever "correct a wrong"? No machine can do that. Not now, not ever. But a person can.
  6. You know, it's just not as funny when you have to point it out like that. A capital letter suffices. Brevity. Harte
  7. Doing God's will.

Let me see if I understand what you're saying. You're saying that if choice could occur without it being caused (which it can't) choice couldn't be willed. Is that right? My head is spinning Horta. Could I choose without causing myself to choose? No. In order to choose, I definitely need to use the power to choose (free will) to cause a choice to be made. I'm really baffled why you are arguing that the ordinary everyday occurrences of simple choice is somehow not real. It feels like you're trying to avoid something. But correct me if I'm wrong.
  8. Kim Jong Un and Putin meet for first time

Putin - Hi Kim, how was your meeting with Trump? Kim - Vlad, the b****** wanted me to build a Trump Tower in the centre of Pyongyang. Putin - What's the problem, the costs? Kim - No, not the costs, he was going to get the Mexicans to pay for it. Putin - The space? Kim - No, plenty of space. I just tell them to build and they build where I tell them. Putin - What then? Kim - He wanted his statue erected in front of the tower, which is totally impossible. Putin - Why? Kim - Pyongyang isn't big enough for two egocentric maniacs

  10. Is it ethical to keep pets?

They reckon its not love for us from animals, its a just an instinct,a method for survival.Well its no different to us loving our human kids,a selfish instinct to keep our own lineage going,or our partner to help us survive on this planet. So when you think of it,love is not so magical after all and not a solely human feeling. For me on a farm, animals are companions, guards, hunters, workers and food depending on the species.Survival for me would be hard if not impossible without them, and they all receive the best of care.
  11. Because, you know, they DO jump off bridges all the time. Something EnergyGem maybe should consider. I'm sure the experience is spiritual. Harte
  12. Doing God's will.

This is discredited by every understanding we have of the universe so far. It requires choice to be either contra-causal or acausal. There is no reason to believe that anything that happens in the brain resulting in a "choice" is contra-causal. Exactly the opposite. If choice could be acausal, it couldn't be willed. Yet these choices themselves are the result of a causal chain that is almost entirely out of our control and that we are mostly oblivious to. That's what we need to take into account. Of course people can learn from mistakes. If machines can learn, so can we.

I just got a subscription page with your link so I'm posting another one. What Erdogan said was way over the top. https://www.news.com.au/world/turkey-arrest-islamic-state-member-over-alleged-gallipoli-threat/news-story/c341d250a89f2ad3263a5f2e72b9a437
  14. UFO sightings

see, thats my issue with basically 100% of cover up conspiracy theories, they only surface after the event is very much in the light of day, pretty much making a cover up pointless and as you know some might say, well, the photos showed ET mooning the camera from his ship, smoking gun proof but there is no real good reason we have zero pics
  15. XenoFish

Intentions without actions are powerless, actions without intentions are aimless.

  16. Doing God's will.

No. You can't go back in time. Free will (the power to choose) implies that a person "could have chosen differently". Therefore, there is no reason to think that a person could NOT have chosen differently in the same exact circumstance. This is the purpose of the power to choose is it not? Destiny is determined by these choices. However perturbing or satisfying that might be. But if a wrong choice was made in the past, there will always be an opportunity to make choices that aren't wrong (for a while) in the future.
  17. Entity

just my opinions. the big thing is you say you have or want to try to harm yourself that sounds like a need for professinal physiological help and intervention. i have been at bad places in my life with my issues and i believe at times it would have been easier to blame demons, or ghosts or aliens or some other what i feel are delusinal fantasy based reasons for what i was going thru, its still hard to always accept this is all in my mind, and the mind does play its tricks. ive been down the new age path, religion, of many types, all kinds of hocus pocus bogus focus stuff it didnt help me and sometimes made it worse, for me this stuff we go thru starts and ends in the mind, a phychic cant help they are frauds, imho there are no "entities" good or bad. its woo, at best it might make a believer feel better for a moment but it wont last long, if smudge pots scented candles or calgon baths help a person then great if not dont do it, i too like background something on. i try to keep as positive as possible , these are just my observations and opinions everyone has one. i hope you feel better very soon.

  23. Doing God's will.

Did I say "controlled"? I don't think I did, but if I did it would have been careless. It is the blueprint for the nervous system we have though which is a physical system. I thought the whole point I made was that our psyche was "causally determined". Thus our psyche is an expression of our genes, interacting with the environment. The psyche is the end result of a prior causal chain (if you see this as "controlled", then yes it is controlled). I completely disagree with your statement. This would require that being gay is "learned behaviour" or that it somehow constitutes a genuine "choice". Why couldn't straight people derive gay people, or short people derive taller people? Where and how does my logic lead you to this? Psyche. The totality of our mind.
  24. I don't believe you

@Golden Duck, “This consensual account of the history of marital rape is founded on a massive historical erasure. As Parts I through IV of this Article reveal, a husband's conjugal rights became the focus of public controversy almost immediately after the first organized woman's rights movement coalesced in 1848. "Over the course of the next half century, feminists waged a vig- orous, public, and extraordinarily frank campaign against a man's right to forced sex in marriage. This nineteenth-century debate over marital rape constitutes a powerful historical record that deserves to be examined in its own right. It also provides a useful framework from which to assess and understand the course of the modem debate over the exemption” (Jill Elaine Hasday, "Contest and Consent: A Legal History of Marital Rape," 88 California Law Review 1373 (2000). Clearly, the female voice hasn’t been considered.
