  1. Something exciting is on the way - we are going to be launching a brand new YouTube channel in the very near future! More specific details will be coming soon (if you are a subscriber of our Patreon we have additional early-access details on there for all tiers), but what I can reveal right now is that the videos are being created in-house and will essentially be mini-documentaries (around 10 minutes in length) exploring various different mysteries. This is a pretty big deal for UM and the channel will represent a significant expansion of our site and a major new content offering moving forward. Keep an eye out for the full reveal and more details coming very soon!

  2. A few days I announced that we were going to be launching our own YouTube channel and now it's time to reveal more details. The name of the channel is: Quite Mysterious For those wanting an early peak at the channel or for the chance to be one of our first YouTube subscribers, you can find it here: https://www.youtube.com/@QuiteMysterious I can also reveal the date on which the first video will be published - Thursday, 23rd May. That's not all, though, because our Patreon supporters can view our debut video right now (and every subsequent video) one week early. Every Thursday a new episode will be posted up on YouTube and the next episode after that will be posted up on Patreon. I hope you'll subscribe to our channel and join us on this new adventure - thank you.

  5. Why only Christianity? There is an equal chance that Islam is real, or Judaism, or Hinduism, or Sikhism, or Paganism or any of the thousands of religions which have existed since mankind first had an imagination. There is no one religion which the majority of humanity accepts. We are all in a minority where belief is concerned, so the majority of humanity are going to look pretty silly if there is some kind of a god. If a Christian was to ask me the question I would reply to them, "do you know that you reject the teachings of Muhammad at your own peril?" What ever answer they give I would say, "yes and that's exactly how I feel about Jesus".

  6. No. Presidents, prime ministers and, indeed, all senior politicians should be held more accountable to the law. They are the people who are trusted with running the country and setting the laws. If they don't abide by them, why should anyone else? Lead by example or don't lead at all.

  21. I saw this question on Quora recently, and thought this answer was interesting. Obviously if Christianity is somehow real, then atheists like me are going to look pretty silly when we die, but I guess it is a chance we are willing to take. Or forced to take, as it takes considerable effort to believe something irrational. 'Please. Explain how that works. I've been asking since I've been 11 years old. I am now 59 and have still not gotten a rational answer. How does this make any sense? First, let me correct you. What exactly did Jesus sacrifice besides a weekend? I mean supposedly he died on Friday and came back to life on Sunday. He lost a Saturday? What happened to him wasn't of his own volition. So what did HE actually “sacrifice". Rather it was taken from him. Second, we are told that Jesus died for our sins. Exactly how does that work? Why did God need a blood sacrifice in order to forgive us? Did he need a particular blood type? And why did it have to be his son? And if God is omniscient and omnipotent, why couldn't he just forgive us without killing anybody at all? I can forgive without killing anyone and I am only human. He certainly has the power, right? I mean it's HIS forgiveness he is giving. So please tell me how the claim “Jesus died for our sins" makes ANY sense outside religious cliche.'

You can use them in regular text like this 😀 Or you can put them on a new line and use the 'size' option in the editor to make larger ones like this: 😎👍😺 You can find the full range in the existing emoticons drop-down box in the editor. You can also search for a specific one by typing in the search box at the bottom of the emoji popup. There are hundreds of them to play around with - have fun! 🤪

As humanity essentially grows up and discovers the realities of life and existence for itself people will rely less and less on the superstitions of ancient nomadic shepherds and goat herders and more on their own expanding comprehension of reality. cormac

  35. I've just recently seen this, although it has been around for a while. Dear Dr. Laura: Thank you for doing so much to educate people regarding God's Law. I have learned a great deal from your show, and try to share that knowledge with as many people as I can. When someone tries to defend the homosexual lifestyle, for example, I simply remind them that Leviticus 18:22 clearly states it to be an abomination. End of debate. I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some of the other specific laws and how to follow them: When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord — Leviticus 1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of menstrual uncleanliness — Leviticus 15:19-24. The problem is, how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offense. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may indeed possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighboring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? I have a neighbor who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself? A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination — Leviticus 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Leviticus 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle room here? Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Leviticus 19:27. How should they die? I know from Leviticus 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? My uncle has a farm. He violates Leviticus 19:19 by planting two different crops in the same field, as does his wife by wearing garments made of two different kinds of thread (cotton/polyester blend). He also tends to curse and blaspheme a lot. Is it really necessary that we go to all the trouble of getting the whole town together to stone them? — Leviticus 24:10-16. Couldn't we just burn them to death at a private family affair like we do with people who sleep with their in-laws? (Leviticus 20:14) I know you have studied these things extensively, so I am confident you can help. Thank you again for reminding us that God's word is eternal and unchanging. Your devoted fan, Jim

  37. Colorado Supreme Court removes Trump from 2024 ballot based on 14th Amendment’s ‘insurrectionist ban’ | CNN Politics CNN — In a stunning and unprecedented decision, the Colorado Supreme Court removed former President Donald Trump from the state’s 2024 ballot, ruling that he isn’t an eligible presidential candidate because of the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist ban.” The ruling was 4-3. The ruling will be placed on hold until January 4, pending Trump’s appeal to the US Supreme Court, which could settle the matter for the nation. The state Supreme Court decision only applies to Colorado but the historic ruling will roil the 2024 presidential campaign. Colorado election officials have said the matter needs to be settled by January 5, which is the statutory deadline to set the list of candidates for the GOP primary scheduled for March 5. “President Trump did not merely incite the insurrection,” the majority wrote in its unsigned opinion. “Even when the siege on the Capitol was fully underway, he continued to support it by repeatedly demanding that Vice President (Mike) Pence refuse to perform his constitutional duty and by calling Senators to persuade them to stop the counting of electoral votes. These actions constituted overt, voluntary, and direct participation in the insurrection.” “We conclude that the foregoing evidence, the great bulk of which was undisputed at trial, established that President Trump engaged in insurrection,” the opinion adds. “President Trump’s direct and express efforts, over several months, exhorting his supporters to march to the Capitol to prevent what he falsely characterized as an alleged fraud on the people of this country were indisputably overt and voluntary.”
