As an antidote, perhaps we should take a look at the witchhunts.From Medieval times onwards witches came in for much persecution. The European witchhunts began in 1275 and existed sporadically up to the last execution in Poland in 1793. Lotus Flower Posted August 1, 2007 #3 Share Posted August 1, 2007 What must have been really scary as well, was if someone didn't like you (for whatever reason, probably next to nothing half the time) they would accuse you of being a witch and then the interrogation would begin. None of this, innocent until proven guilty lark either. Was it not the Salem Witch Trials that entertained some children's statements that resulted in the execution of many people? Some of the interrogation methods were horrific and the most stupid of all - sticking someone in a dunking chair, if they floated they were a witch, if they didn't they drowned, unless someone managed to get them out. We murdered far more people than they did in Pearl Harbor (granted that the Pearl Harbor incident even occurred). Some people argue this by saying that we couldn't have possibly known the extent of damage this would incur. LoL So we used them as guinea pigs? Sounds to me like business as usual in America. Look how long it even took before women were allowed to vote without restrictions, but somehow we seem to think our plastic bags, cinnamon flavored dental floss and iPhones mean we've advanced as a species when we're really the same savages and what George Carlin calls "semi civilized beasts with baseball caps and automatic weapons". Wistman Posted January 29, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 29, 2019 Ironically, if the 'witches' were truly evil, truly skilled at delivering harm to people or controlling their will, the powers that be would have brought them into their cabinets, protected them, and employed them for their skills; never would they have killed them for heaven's sake. That would have wasted valuable resources. They couldn't recite the Lord's Prayer because they couldn't remember it. They would have spoken funny also.
