poet's perspective

i'm half asleep half the time

staring out through blurry eyes

trying to see beyond an ordinary life

i call it faith, you say i'm blind

motionless i can't be still

i spend myself to try and fill

oh this hunger so much stronger than my will

i'm hungry still

So tread softly on my barely beating heart

when it seems my precious faith keeps me in the dark

You'd never tell a child that she's a fool

For believing in the man up in the moon

children's games of hide and seek

are not so far away for me

in precious moments maybe no more than a dream

i find it's innocence i seek

a moment where i truly life

and fall into a partnership

where all creation and every living soul

become my home

so tread softly on my barely beating heart

when it seems my precious faith keeps me in the dark

you'd never tell a child that she's a fool

for believing in the man up in the moon

i've lost more than i've gained while growing old and growing wise

the more i know the less i see

please help me to believe

i'm going blind

i long to see the man up in the moon just one more time

and tread softly on my barely beating heart

when it seems my precious faith keeps me in the dark

you'd never tell a child that she's a fool

for believing in the man up in the moon
