Scorpius Posted January 3, 2004 #1 Share Posted January 3, 2004 Utopia: An ideally perfect place, especially in its social, political, and moral aspects. ============== My idea of Utopia would be a place of peace, harmony, and a sense of equality. However, unrealistic this maybe its a good way to start off on your thoughts of a Utopian society or world. Furthermore, the educational system would be different from the many systems i've encountered or heard of. They seem highly disfunctional and not as greatly beneficial is they should be, which my educational system would undertake. My government would probably resemble the Greek's. Senates from around the globe would come and decide on many decisions, whether it be spiritual, scientific, or financial. It would not be exclusively for political topics but to a diverse request of topics and situations that need to be addressed. The only problem would be the rebels or criminals. I don't know what i'd specifically do with them, because i think death sentences are morally wrong. So i'm stumped on this. This Utopian world of mine, would also be a place well connected to its environment and its geographical structures. Quite similar to the wondrous and spectacular structures in the movie Lord of the Rings, however it would be highly technological. I believe my idea of a Utopia should be a spectacular environment to live in. ============== Care to share? Describe your idea of Utopia.

Scorpius Posted January 4, 2004 Author #9 Share Posted January 4, 2004 You want a Utopian society? Both Democracy and Communism were set to be perfect UTOPIAN SOCIETIES. In Democracy you build on yourself to make your OWN utopian society by the CHOICES YOU MAKE IN YOUR LIFETIME. FOR EX. You go to college, and work real hard, do not experiment or TAKE BIG RISKS, OR CHANCES IN LIFE by The Stock Market, or GAMBLING, and live a NORMAL life. Ex. Have kids, have pets, drink beer, (smoke weed if it were legal), have a nice CAR, and decent HOME that you TAKE VERY GOOD CARE OF AND do not NEGLECT, have a decent JOB, and well rounded friends excluding FRIENDS WHO WILL PULL YOU DOWN, like Drug Addicts, Theives, and Liars. Have a religion or Science of YOUR CHOICE, Excluding one that will be destructive, but a religion or science that will make YOU AND YOUR FAMILY HAPPY, AND SECURE IN LIFE. The Problem with Democracy is that. People worry to much about other people and NOT ENOUGH ABOUT THEMSELVES. Another problem IS THAT PEOPLE DO NOT WANT TO WORK IN LIFE, Instead they think that everything has to be GIVEN TO THEM ON A SILVER PLATTER, Another problem with Democracy is GREED, I want your Life style, even though I HAVE ALREADY MADE OUT MY LIFE STYLE, Change is a HUGE ISSUE. What is wrong in AMERICA IS NOT THAT the government is carrying out CONSPIRACIES, AND DEMONIC PLANS FOR THE END OF THE WORLD, But the problem is with PEOPLE. For example- We do not VOTE, as much anymore, PEOPLE DO NOT TRY HARD ENOUGH IN SCHOOL, OR COLLEGE (Alcohol, Sex and Drugs, are a BIG FACTOR. Parents spoiling Children, teachers and other students segregating from each other, instead of UNITING TO HELP THEMSELVES AND OTHERS LEARN BETTER. The Media, and its use of FEAR, Hence, I HAVE BETTER CLOTHES THAN YOU, MY DAD SAID SANTA CLAUS DID NOT EXIST, BULLIES, and TYRANTS FOR TEACHERS!!!!. And Mothers and Fathers who abandon THEIR CHILDREN. In democracy there will always be Jealousy, Greed, Lies, Lazyness, and Hate. The ways to change this are to VOTE, DO GOOD IN SCHOOL, HELP YOURSELF MOSTLY, BUT ALSO GIVE OTHERS SOME HELP ( AS LONG AS THEY ARE HELPING THEMESELVES), AND LAST OF ALL SET POSTIVE GOALS FOR YOURSELF, AND ACHEIVE THEM ONE BY ONE. WHEN YOU HAVE ACHIEVED ALL YOUR GOALS, SET SOME MORE POSTIVES GOALS FOR YOUR LIFE. Now in Communism everyone gets the same as everyone else. The downfall is you are chosen what jobs will be best for you, you do NOT CHOOSE WHO IS IN YOUR POLITICAL OFFICE, AND THE FOLLWING OF GREED, JEALOUSY, LIERS, LAZYNESS, AND HATE. My point of this was to let you know that NO matter what Government, we have we will always have the problems of the ABOVE THAT I JUST MENTIONED. But as goes for Anarchy, lets have Anarchy, that way people can waltz right in our homes and rape and murder our children without serving 10 to twenty years, lets have our children exposed to Cocain, and Herion, and other deadly Drugs, lets have people who Lie, Cheat, Steal, and Kill run around everywhere. I think there is a better way of achieving Utopia, than Anarchy, besides to even get anarchy everyone would have to revolt, or say NO to anything and everthing, a good start of anarchy would be for everyone in the world quiting their jobs. I personally believe their is no possible way to ever get a COMPLETE notice I said COMPLETE Utopia, since how your Utopia, may differ from anothers Idea of Utopia. I think the best way to reach an IDEAL government, to make the people happy is a Government run by the people for the people, hence the words (DEMOCRACY), too bad America left Democracy years ago, and went to socialism. The biggest problem with Democracy, is the fact that THE PEOPLE get lazy and nothing gets done, therefore someone higher up IN THE GOVERNMENT takes more action and power than what is necessary and actually given to him. As everyone in the world does not recognize how powerful there government is getting, because of there foolishness, and neglegence, they fail to do anything about it before its too late. Pretty soon it gets so bad that the people that do relize what is happening start making up CONSPIRACY THEORIES, and huge ass PROTESTING GROUPS. Then the government has to take action because this puts the rest of the world into danger because they can't let their CONTROL OF POWER go, if they do then everyone GOES OUT OF CONTROL, if they dont then everyone gets scared through FEAR, MANIPULATION, and POWER, so they begin to CONFORM. See where Im getting at? I really do understand where your getting at with Anarchy, its just that it would never work. As for Utopia, I think its safe to say ANARCHY would be a CHAOTIC UTOPIA. Democracy IF RAN PROPERLY, would be a HUMANISTIC UTOPIA. What do you think about what I just wrote? This makes for an awesome speech. Next time add this in a reply, because its worth a reply (post) than a private message. However good this post was, people are taking it a little too seriously. I meant to say, what you think would be an ideal society, without regards to ours.
Atlantis Rises Posted January 4, 2004 #10 Share Posted January 4, 2004 We had a utopia once but humanity became corrupt and destroyed it. Care to elaborate. Atlantis was this planet's utopia before it became corrupt and destroyed themselves. It was one with nature, had no wars, flourished without restrainment ~~ perhaps the reason it became corrupt, no governed laws to hold back progress. And they were technologically superior to our present master race.

Celumnaz Posted January 5, 2004 #13 Share Posted January 5, 2004 When I was a kid and in my teens I thought Socialism was a perfect Utopia. Then I got some responsibility and realized there is no such thing. Democracy is mob rule, and mobs can be stupid and harmful to themselves and others. I think that benevolent dictatorship might be one of the best... but it all depends on the person in charge. Personal Utopia? Like if I were an emperor and could do no wrong and had a harem with Jessica Alba and Brittney Spears and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders and any food/thing I desired? I'd probably spend most of my time reading... But as long as there are people, there will be problems.
Scorpius Posted January 5, 2004 Author #14 Share Posted January 5, 2004 But as long as there are people, there will be problems. Well, that's true in way. However, it really depends on ones personality and their true "mission" or purpose in life, which should be through good deeds. If every one had the same morals, philosophies, and ethical standards, which are good, then all ends well that start well. On the downside, in reality, this would only be created by people who think exactly alike or pretty much the same, and since no three people think alike its hard for a utopian society such as this, to exist. You know what they say..."Every good deed deserves a reward."
Blood Angel Posted January 6, 2004 #15 Share Posted January 6, 2004 My utopia would be a world made of entire chocolate, so that we may feast until we puke, also giant labdrdors will walk the earth which we shall enslave and use for transport. Mullets, and beards will be banned. Great idea, and a sweet one. Although if this utopian world existed, i'm sure dentists would become billionares, seeing as how people would quickly have cavities. But who knows maybe in this utopia of yours, cavities will already be cured.

Mullets, and beards will be banned. Hmm, chocolate... **insert drooling smilie here** There is no true utopia other than what we can imagine in our minds. A true utopia can never be realized because there will always be those with different beliefs than ourselves, and religion will always be a major factor in disputes. strichar Posted March 18, 2004 #19 Share Posted March 18, 2004 I think it is possible to acheive utopia, but humanity would have to acheive a higher form of consciousness than we currently have. My utopia would be one in harmony in nature, almost identical to the Native Americans of the eastern Woodlands.

man_in_mudboots Posted March 21, 2004 #21 Share Posted March 21, 2004 I think it is possible to acheive utopia, but humanity would have to acheive a higher form of consciousness than we currently have. now this is too much, youre thinking my thoughts after me now, mr strichar . it would require a higher level of conciousness, but we arent getting any closer to it. rather, were getting farther away. were getting complacent. we refuse to learn, instead we form an opinion on no solid facts, just rumor and our own convictions. we complain about things constantly yet refuse to work to change them. we feel we are the center of the world and often ignore others. a utopia is impossible among sinful beings. WorkMonkey Posted March 21, 2004 #22 Share Posted March 21, 2004 (edited) No matter what level of "consciousness" we're at we will still be subject to our instincts and hormones, thus we will always be prone to violence and intolerance. Well, I think differently. There are those who actually are reaching towards a higher form of conciousness. Take for example the Tibetan Monks who use levitation as a way of reaching this state. man_in_mudboots Posted March 21, 2004 #25 Share Posted March 21, 2004 i didnt mean everybody without exception, miss blue-scorpion. i meant the average person, not counting those very average levitating tibetan monks . thats what gives americans a bad reputation with the sensible european countries, because we are the worst at that of all.
