‘Giant squid’ explores deep-sea mystery

user posted image rSince the days of ancient Greece, the giant squid has been an enigma. The hydra, the kraken: the myth of monsters ensnaring ships with huge tentacles persists right through to Jules Verne and James Bond.

And despite some recent successes filming squids dragged up from their depths on baited lines, the genus Architeuthis remains mysterious.

The largest organisms on the planet are found in the oceans. In the oceans, lifeforms can grow much bigger than anything on dry land and that's because water is denser than air and thus gravity has less effect on those in bodies of water. I bet there is something really huge in the depths.

Man I would love to hunt down giant squid, if I had the money I would set up hundreds of underwater cameras that monitor the ocean bottom night and day...the only problem is that the U.S. military would have BIG issue with that! :unsure2:
