Moon Monkey Posted October 8, 2007 #26 Share Posted October 8, 2007 These companies are going to have to get the lawyers to spell out exactly what the job entails in a starting contract, allowing them to fire under this contract when a worker decides he doesn't want to serve non-dolphin free tuna or condoms. Lord Umbarger Posted October 8, 2007 #27 Share Posted October 8, 2007 Probably, but, then wouldn't htey also have to require the check-out clerks to post a sign on their registers stating rather they are checking-out pork buyers, tobacco buyer, alcohol buyers, caffine buyers, meat or vegetarian customers; what about people who are offended by pictures of women wearing pants? Can they refuse to service customers who are buying tabloids? Can we expect those items to be removed from the impulse buying racks? I know what you are getting at here but, just how far can it be taken? If it is within YOUR sence of reasonability, does that mean that I have to accept it as reasonable? O.K., so what if I don't? Who is going to be hired to remove items from the check-out shelves that I do not wish to handle? You pose a good question. I'm not cutting you for it. You actually brought up a very good point. I'm just expounding on the potential for abuse and PC silliness that I can foresee coming out of some Californian town.
Moon Monkey Posted October 8, 2007 #28 Share Posted October 8, 2007 We could just aparthied up the shops. I can go to a secular shop where everything I want is available and served to me by secular staff, muslims can go to muslim shops where their sensitivities are not offended and jews can go to theirs and....etc. Economic sense will then prevail. Lord Umbarger Posted October 8, 2007 #29 Share Posted October 8, 2007 Perhaps but, what will become of Wal-Mart? I know what you are saying but, speciality shops DO exist, even now. Unfortunately, for most of us, many of the goods we buy come from large chain stores. I mentioned Wal-Mart. Personally, I think that it would be better if the companies just issued latex gloves to the cashiers. If they were offended by a costomers purchase, at least it wouldn't be on thier hands. Besides, who goes to work in a grocery store and thinks that they will not be expected to touch items they themselves wouldn't eat? Do you eat canned hog brains and fish-heads? I bet that item is sold in your local market!

Right, so every Muslim and Jew gets the pork dispense, every Hindu the beef dispense, every Buddhist the no-violence dispense, every Taoist the non-respected-the-ancestors dispense. I have a better Idea. If you don't like the majorities views, find a place where they do. And I have news for them, even in Muslim Universities they learn to stitch on dead bodies, they learn about liver degeneration through alcohol and except in Afghanistan for a while a male doctor had to treat a female patient. But then again, during that time there were no universities in Afghanistan and one had to learn surgery from the barber... like in the Middle Ages. Moon Monkey Posted October 8, 2007 #31 Share Posted October 8, 2007 (edited) ... like in the Middle Ages. Thats the problem, secular UK 2007 is no place for people whose sensitivities belong in the dark ages. Then again they seem quite ok taking the parts of UK 2007 they like, as in student grants, welfare, freedom of speech etc. Edited October 8, 2007 by Moon Monkey
