Moon Monkey Posted November 4, 2007 #101 Share Posted November 4, 2007 Wow, sounds like you guys are in quite the peril as well. Man, I wouldn't even know where to start Bob....thing is the UK situation gets overlooked in the grand scheme of pro/anti Bush, Iraq, Israel stuff little threads like xmas is cancelled or tory mp gets dropped from his party seem stupid but take them all as a whole and its a grim picture. I would say its even worse in the UK than the US, on top of everything else we have the EU to deal with as well....its all gone (as we say) Pete Tong. GreyWeather Posted November 4, 2007 #104 Share Posted November 4, 2007 Yeh, I know my post was pretty much tongue-in-cheek wishful thinking. He doesn't even have a mandate the electorate voted for Blair for the promised full term. Why does anyone believe anything these people say or do , its time the published manifesto was a legal contract with consequences for failure to even attempt to do what you promise. So was mine >.< Lol sorry, I should've used the ( ) . We should have the Tory in. Labour have gotten to big for their working shoes.

ships-cat Posted November 4, 2007 #106 Share Posted November 4, 2007 (edited) Christmas is hardly christian anymore. It's traditional. I don't care if you come from another country and claim that chirstmas is offensive to you. Shut up and sit down and leave this country. It's not a "happy holiday". It's Merry Christmas It's worth noting that a lot of Muslim, Hindu and Sikh "community leaders" came out very vocally and trashed the think-tanks conclusions; the concensus - at least as reported in the major newspapers, was "not in our name you don't.. bring on the Tinsel". (I may have been paraphrasing them slightly). In fact, the only religious organisation that DIDN'T seem to object to the proposals where the Anglicans. (the 'official' christian religion of the UK). Wow, sounds like you guys are in quite the peril as well. hetrodoxly Posted November 4, 2007 #107 Share Posted November 4, 2007 No its not. It is not the Day Jesus was born. nor does the tree or the lights have anything to do with Christianity. Those are Pagan symbols. It was originally a Winter Solstice Festival I believe Would you use the same argument to justify a ban on Ramadan, Diwali , etc., both have pagan roots? somehow i think not. Moon Monkey Posted November 5, 2007 #111 Share Posted November 5, 2007 (edited) From the OP article: "It also wants "national culture" barriers to be torn down to help immigrants settle into the UK" Also from the OP, "3 out of 4 companies do not celebrate christmas for fear of upsetting minority staff" Forget christmas, that battle has been lost, the big question is what national culture barrier is next ? Moving football from 3 pm on a saturday afternoon for fear of upsetting the jews ? Edited November 5, 2007 by Moon Monkey
