supercar Posted December 26, 2007 #26 Share Posted December 26, 2007 http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pressass/20071225...-6323e80_3.html The head of the Roman Catholic Church in England and Wales has called on people to do more to welcome immigrants to Britain in his Christmas address. The Archbishop of Westminster, Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, used his Christmas Homily to highlight the needs of the excluded and the importance of Christian compassion towards the less fortunate. In the homily at Westminster Cathedral, London, he drew particular attention to the way in which migrants were treated. The Cardinal said: "A theme which is much in the news in Britain at the moment is the question of the many immigrant peoples who come to our country. Most immigrants come to our country because they wish to have a better life and work so as to provide for their families. This guy,or his parents, immigrated to Britian:

atom286 Posted December 26, 2007 #31 Share Posted December 26, 2007 (edited) If this nations leadership had originally consulted with the British people about immigration they would have been told no only in extreme circumstances. I believe we have never been asked because they know what the answer would be. So much for Democracy. We need a law in this nation so that the British people can have MP's and the Prime Minister up for treason if they don't respect the British peoples right to Democracy. I wonder why we have no Empire left, or why we are in the EU, or why all are industry has gone. Is it Politicians giving it away despite the fact the people want to keep it? capoeiranger Posted December 26, 2007 #34 Share Posted December 26, 2007 However, I hope that the immigrants would at least learn to speak English. I'm no English, but it's annoying if you're lost in London and asking a direction but answered in another language than English (and you don't understand the language at all?) What the hell is going on with our nations leadership? Well said again Atom, (bold) i can tell you whats going on, they have an ideology called "multiculturalism" thats been forced on the people of this country and if you dare to speak out against it you'll get called all sorts, racist being the most popular, the government knows its made a huge mistake with immigration/Multiculturalism, but they wont fix the problem they've caused, because it would include drastic action such has deportation of families, foreign criminals, illegals, and no prime-minister wants to be remembered by history as the PM who deported people, so they'll leave their mess for the next generation to fix, has always they'll take the easy way out, I noticed the Italians never had a problem deporting people just the other month, Romanian immigrants rounded up and shipped out, 5,000 in 2 weeks all sent back from where they came, why, because of public outcry, so a law was rushed through, and the result is deportation, Treason law was Ko'd i think in 1998, i wonder why they done away with the death penalty, maybe to cover their own arses, i really do HATE the politicians of this country, we've had weak leadership in this country for a long time,

I had a nice Christmas with turkey and everything...now I've got to write my thankyou letters.. er On topic- Great Britain of the UK, imo in the future- will either end up-with all the cultures and colours, bleeding into one...(into one) but yes I don't know about you but I'm still running! Or we'll end up in a civil war! Which, of course, feeds the rich while it buries the poor. I'll just go with the flow... besides.. my hands are tied For all I've seen has changed my mind. Drexl Spivey Posted December 26, 2007 #39 Share Posted December 26, 2007 (edited) Can you Imagine what the Americans would say if those were jewish people you did not want into your country. Already they fire off the anti-semitic accusation like some kind of manic paint spray gun at any trivial reason they can find. If this was anti-jewish they would be in some kind of epileptic convulsive seizure state by now . The UK has displaced many native people in it's time, perhaps more than any other nation on earth . It has also obliterated.. wiped out ..some island races , just to clear the way for their masters the USA to build air bases . If any nation deserved to be displaced by immigrants it is the english . Lord Of The Dragons Posted December 27, 2007 #46 Share Posted December 27, 2007 Treason law was Ko'd i think in 1998, i wonder why they done away with the death penalty, maybe to cover their own arses, i really do HATE the politicians of this country, we've had weak leadership in this country for a long time, Amen brother, amen. I once sent a letter to the Prime Minister (Blair) telling him I refused to vote cos there was no 'vote of no confidence' on the ballot paper. Needless to say, I never got a reply. Immigration is a major problem in this country, it's a pity the idiot Politicians can't see it. It's also a personal problem for me because I drive a truck over on the continent. If any illegals sneak onto my truck and I don't see/find them and immigration does, it's me that gets fined. And we've apologised.... er (sorry) so, anyone see the Dr who Christmas special? I don't know about anyone else here but I thought It was great. Check out the graphics in my post and then take your best guess
Isadora1982 Posted December 27, 2007 #47 Share Posted December 27, 2007 Hello my friends, I don't know if my contribution to this topic will add anything valuable, but here's my 2 cents. I came to Australia as a refugee in 1993 as a result of the Balkan war which I'm sure many of you are familiar with or have heard of. At the time (93), for some reason, my family (mum, dad and sis) were all subjected to various medical and language tests before we were admitted and granted refugee status. I think what helped our situation was that we were a young family with some knowledge of English (although rusty at first). We arrived in Oz on 1st July, 1993 and I started Australian Primary schooling on 14th July...no English lessons or anything for me...which actually turned out to be good thing - I came top of my English class in 2000 My parents, on the other hand, had English lessons provided by the government, never missed a class and immediately got a job in a shoe factory - 3 months after arriving in the country. We were on government support for 6 months only and started to rent a property within a year of being in the country. I found the Aussies to be extremely welcoming people and we never had any problems integrating. Because I had no other Croat friends in my classes, I was basically forced to learn the language quickly in order to communicate with others who were from other cultures, Chinese, Indian, etc. Now, 14 years later, I reckon I'm more Aussie than anyone (figuratively speaking) and have a strong love of this country....fair enough, I never actually got into cricket, but I resent how "some" (operative word) migrants that come into this country are disrespectful to its people and culture. Both my parents are full time employed and are taxpayers, including myself. I have completed uni and my sister studies full time and works part time. Right, so whats your point, I hear you ask. Well, I think whilst some people may be opposed to migration in general, I'd like to personally offer my account of being a migrant that migration CAN work and migrants CAN migrate successfully. Sure, there will always be a groups of turds who will choose to abuse the privilege given to them, and these turds should rightfully be kicked out, but there are some of us who are more than happy to accept and assimilate and should thefore not be stereotyped with the rest. As an Aussie, and yes, you can see my citizenship certificate, I am alarmed to see the rise in ethnic violence in my home town, Melbourne. I think the Australian people are a very tolerant type and those migrants who claim that they have been singled out and ostracised are, in my opinion, full of s***. This would only be the case if you're the extremist type of group of migrants (read: Al Hilaly) and in that case, that type of rubbish does not belong in this country and should be eradicated. Thanks for reading,
GreyWeather Posted December 27, 2007 #48 Share Posted December 27, 2007 (edited) You see, Isa, migration would not be such a problem if the migrating parties DID learn our language, and DID try to become apart of this country. Unless they were refugee's I mean, inwhich are sent back once things have settled in their own country. It happens. Rarely. Oh so rarely. For us over in olde Britain. If I moved over the channel to France. I'd learn the language and the culture and the proper way to do things in France, BEFORE going over and slowly learning everything I mentioned by accident - which happens more often than not in England. Obviously I'd only really know the basic of the language at first, but enough to have converstions about various things, buy food ectect.
