I do like the 'in broad daylight' part of your post though, like not having one after sunset would make you a social out-cast. You mean you don't? But then again... I happen to have a small spray canister. I pulled it out once at night, heading for coffee, and a would-be mugger ran from me thinking it was pepper spray.
