Civil airline safety has always been subject to cost cutting, for example a black box is capable of recording upto 300 different pieces of information as in Military Aircraft, yet most civil aircraft only record between 30 to 100 pieces of info granted military aircraft have weapons systems etc but this does not account for the difference.

What a load of bull, Lifting body aircraft have been envisioned as airliners for years and have never came about for one simple reason, pressurization. The tube like structure is simply a lot easier to pressurize. Also the majority of the fuel is in the wings, not under the seats. Only on really long flight, ie: internation flights across oceans, is there fuel in the fuselage tank and it is a small amount compared to the wing tanks.

The site also mentions ice on lift surfaces causing accidents, if you have ice on the wings it doesent matter if you have a lifting body design, your main lift surfaces still do not have the smooth airflow to create lift.

The B-2 is a flying wing design, but it still is a cylindrical shape in the area around the crew, why? because that part needs to be pressurized.

The design is very hard to use on airliners due to the pressurization issues, but it is a good design for light non-pressurized aircraft. Although it is nothing new, look at a piper cub, the flat under surface is lift producing, based off of newtons law of every action has an equal and opposite reaction, one of the basic principles of flight. Also there are a few aircraft that even the sides are lift producing so when flying aerobatics they still produce a small amount of lift when flying on their side.
